No doubt...
He's been ranked as the #1 DJ in the world by several publications, but each time I've seen him has been a huge disappointment. The guy had 4 or 5 major trainwrecks in the last show I saw. |

becuase you think listening to breaks makes you cool!

breaks is cool, but unfortunately breaks clubs are always full of people tying to show their obscure taste and try to fit in and act like they are cool becuase they listen to breaks or drumnbass, and dont fall with the commercial HOUSE or trance scene!
breaks clubs crowds were cool back in the 90's! when it was experimental
now the clubs are full of wannabies! who think they are cool becuase they are there!! bascially A CLUB FULL OF TRY HARDS!!!
at least trance parties people are not trying to be people they are not!
they like the music and are not ashamed to admit it!
half the breaks scene dont even like the music! they are just there to try and act obsure! like obcurity means cool! reminds me of the ARTHOUSE scene!
im sure 90% of the breaks scene will listen to trance when they are alone!
but would never admit it in front their CREW!!!
ohh and regards to Tiestos djing! yeah I know he is a trainwreck!!
so what! its an 02 event means they will deck out the hall real cool ..

I hate heavy metal music! but if a party is on and my friends are going!

the people are getting to arrogant!! over it..

I like breaks and DnB a lot, and if I go to one of those parties, it's because I've been into the music for a long time.
I don't like repetetive stuff, be it breaks, trance, house, anything...I like DJ's who play a variety of styles...
I listen to trance if it deserves to be listened to. TESTO, TESTES, whatever his name is, is NOT GOOD! NOT! I absolutely hate the fact that whenever I've searched for tunes on P2P and other things (even Napster back in the day), there are always 5,000 results for TESTES!!
I always wondered "WHO IS ACTUALLY LISTENING TO THAT??"
I don't like people who go to breaks parties and think they are special because they have copies of such and such new record because they know such and such DJ. I don't like people who go to parties and act. I don't like people who act, unless they are actors.

I must appeal to the lowest denominator then because I really like TIESTO and similar like DJs like Ferry Corsten and Johan Geilen and I don't care what people think....
Its like high school, oh i am too cool for that because it is not hip anymore...when I was young it was hip as was Eurotrance and I really got into it and I still do..
Do you know what, i can't stand beats and drum and bass.....if i want to frigging fall asleep put me on some drum and Bass....I would rather listen to country and western.... |

actually, i listen to all forms of edm, except for "intelligent" dnb. i won't go see tiesto because it's exspensive and it's silly epic trance. for the price they are charging, why not bring in someone with TALENT like francois k, derrick may, sven vath, boo william, akufin, ???
if you are willing to spend between 45,000 and 55,000 and not care about the music, you may as well go to a freakin' britney spears concert. better yet, how about i get some pretty lasers on my roof top and play my ipod selections on a crap soundsystem? i'll pay some skany girls to wear short skirts with cigarette emblems on their shirts and charge you to take you picture with them. i'll take your pricey cover charge and still overcharge you on booze.
you know why promoters don't bring in good djs? they don't have to. between the moronic expat community and the koreans who only care about dj ranking, it's wonder there's any other types of music here.

Well yes you can't really blame the promotors.
They will get a nice profit from this. tiesto (and trance) is big business in asia.
breaks will not be a viable option for a huge party in korea for a long, long time (if ever).
I dislike trance, but you can bet that this place could easily pack out with just koreans. if you put a breaks party on, i would say that it would be mostly a foreign crowd. we have to be realistic here.
So:
(a) the music will be shitty if you're not into this.
(b) there will be many people there
(c) the promotors will make a lot of money
(d) i guess if you don't care for the music, you'll have a great time |

I dont even think koreans know what DJ ranking is!!
I mean listen, if EDM was such a huge scene in seoul we would see these parties with 5000 people! I mean come 13million people and these promotors are lucky to get 1000 people! and how many of them actually paid!!??
all the top DJS brough into korea! they have not played to a full capacity crowd! half the time its barely full! not because the DJs are garbage!
its becuase there is no REAL scene here..the scene here is just people who listen to EDM and they come out to hear a DJ..
back home you walk around a club! or a rave and you see a SCENE!
people all decked out! people chillin in their clicks! fashionable, people who make a scene! korea needs a lifestyle needs unique people, needs lesser drug laws! and this will bring out a scene which is waiting to come out!
Tiesto packs 50.000 people areas with his name on the bill! back to back nights! he is the most sort after dj in the world! yeah he is commercial!
but so what! he has made some sweet tracks! in his days!
I know people who wouldnt see a U2 concert becuase they think they suck!
I know people who wouldnt go to a micheal jackson concert because they think its childish! same as a eminem concert! commercial rap!
a shows a show! its a party after all! most djs in the world are all just so so at the end of the day! how you are feeling and the buzz you are on really all depends on how you think he was that night.. |
