I just wish to offer my condolences to Tom Fox and his family. May he find peace in his rest. May his family find peace in this issue, a good man laid to rest. God Bless you and your family Sad

I haven't followed the story, but he seems to have been very conscientious and brave in following his convictions. The following is from the "Huffington Blog:

RJ Eskow
Sat Mar 11, 12:24 AM ET

The body of Tom Fox was found today in Iraq. Fox, a Christian who fought war with the selfless courage of the truly nonviolent, was murdered by his kidnappers. He lived and worked for peace in obscurity. He'll get his moment in the spotlight now.
The mainstream media paid scant attention to the kidnapping of Fox and his fellow Christian Peacekeepers while he lived, giving it far less attention than the abductions of civilian employees. We wondered (here and here) whether that had anything to do with the fact that these witnesses for peace challenged two pet media objectives: to paint all religionists as conservative, and to avoid drawing attention to the questions of conscience that trouble this war. (When was the last time you saw pictures of wounded Iraqi children?)

The kidnapping got greater attention in the Islamic world, where many Muslim leaders pleaded for the release of Fox and his colleagues. These included the Canadian Muslim Congress, the Iraq Islamic Party, radical cleric Abu Qatada, and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.

Rush Limbaugh, on the other hand, said "part of me likes this" (meaning the kidnapping), and also said: "Well, here's why I like it. I like any time a bunch of leftist feel-good hand-wringers are shown reality." ...

I do wonder what he was thinking about in his last moments. I hope that he found courage in his convictions.
If I had his beliefs, I don't think I could have stood by them in that situation.

If I sense impending death I'll try to chant "Hare Krishna!" as loud as I can. Hopefully, he remembered and chanted "Christ!" (or another name for God...) Gandhi reportedly shouted "Rama!" when he was assassinated (and George Harrison yelled "Krishna!" when confronted by a violent, knife-wielding intruder...) A God-conscious person realizes that the real self is never slain (and that even the subtle material mind survives - only the gross body is killed...)

Does anyone else wonder why on earth a North American would go to Iraq (a muslim country) knowing full well what's going on there but especially with the label "Christian Peacekeeper?"

Keeping what peace exactly?

Moreover, wouldn't Christian Peace "ACTIVIST" be a more accurate title?

Question: In order to achieve what they see as further promoting their political agenda,
exactly WHO in Iraq wants Peace "ACTIVISTS" dead?

Hmmmmmm ...

Something like this worked for Trudeau when he was trekking through Egypt sometime back in the 50's.
As i recall the story, he was at knifepoint backed into tight spot by a group of thugs on steps of one of Giza's pyramids.

Suddenly he began ranting like a maniac under the moon various bits of ancient greek poetry he'd memorized.

He seems to have thought they figured he was a madman possessed by some devil & this drove them to quickly vacate the area.

Quite funny really the way he told the story Laughing

Trudeau also went to China in the 50's, which earned him an FBI file as a possible communist sympathizer (something he was quite proud of, actually).

As for Tom Fox, he was a Quacker, therefore he strongly believed in nonviolence. I looked up his group, the CPT, and found out that their main purpose is not to evangelise. As it is a Third Party Nonviolent Intervention organization, it's main goal is to place trained members in explosive situations to help the conflict come to a peaceful resolution (think of the Chinese man who stood in front of the tanks in 1989). Basically, they are like UN peacekeepers without the weapons. Very courageous people, I'd say.

I don't see how this could help the terrorists's cause. It's as if they had killed Ghandi.

Ok Joo ... Confused

Let's hear your brilliant analysis then.

Conspiracy "theorists" wanting peace activists killed. A novel hypothesis to say the least.

Lay if out for us.
