If you cant even turn it off, or use it for that matter then it sounds like a fault on the iPod. If you stick another device in the USB port, does it recognize? |

hmm...so it doesn't recognize anything on the usb? Did you remember to install the ipod software before connecting it? And as the above poster also said, check that your usb port is working. If it still doesn't work then they'll exchange it no problem. |

i had a lot of small problem with my ipod when i first got it... My computer was having some problems recognizing it; or more specifically, it would recognize it but then either the computer would slow down to freeze and/or the ipod just kept flashing do not unplug. It sat that way for a few hours before i figured it out:
they have the kill switch. When I found that in the instruction book and utlized it ALL of my problems dissappeared.
I think you have to hold down the select and play/pause buttons for a few seconds...
I also would start getting kooky at the gym. it was in my pocket and i figured it may have been overheating or something... |

Problem solved, ipod was frozen, once i reset it, all was good. Thank you for the advice.
Next ipod question...ive downloaded about 300 songs, which i plan to transfer to my ipod. I want to erase them from limewire asap afterwards, but will that erase it from my itunes too, seeing as how they are now linked?
I am worried that if I connect the ipod later and those songs are off my computer if it will somehow update the ipod and remove everything? |

Once transferred it depends on what method you use for deleting files.
You say you are using limewire, so that is not usally (as far as I know) linked to the iPod. So no worries. How did you copy the files onto the iPod in the first place? |

i thought lime wire was kind of like a library....
Isn't there just a "delete from library" selection?
i know that the way my ipod is set up, the ipod has it's library of music. Anything i take from my archive to my ipod is doubled on my hard drive ( i think...) |

You can delete songs from your hard drive without deleting them from your ipod. Just don't delete them from your itunes library, and you'll be okay. |

do you have it set up so that when you transfer songs to itunes, they copy to your itunes folder? If so, then go ahead and delete the limewire copies away. |
