Just a little anecdote from my day, for anyone who doesn't understand one working plug-in in a big room, light switches 8 feet from the door, windows that don't open and doors that don't close properly. I stopped in to the little (and I do mean little) corner store near my school on my way to work. It was about noon and it was full of men from the local construction site eating their lunch. Their beverage of choice? Soju, of course. Three men, three open bottles. Whether they were just starting or just finishing, I don't know but it explains a lot. Laughing

Korean builders are probably the worst in the world. They're very quick but as a result they produce buildings that start to fall down within minutes of being completed. It is interesting that outside Korea builders from Korea have produced some truly impressive buildings. The Petronas towers in KL was built by Samsung.

In Korea it seems that within days of a building being constructed it's already falling apart. Too much bballi bballi when it comes to producing building here.

My apartment building is pretty new- maybe 3 years old. I've lived here two years. In that time:
-caulking from the bathroom wall tiles fell off, allowing water from showers to get into the kitchen (and cutting my feet)
-the light fixture in my bedroom crumbled
- the breaker for every plug in in the house blew out- twice
- a pipe in my ondol broke
- the hot water tap in the bathroom sprung a leak
- the water pipes for my washer busted

On the bright side, it's all been repaired, and hopefullly it holds til I move out

I've lived in two of those "villa" apartments and I am 2 for 2 on leaking shower heads. I think the valve which you use to switch between the shower and the tap is broken or something. You turn off the shower to use the sink and still get water squirting out of the shower head. (This problem is so common that I was thinking about doing a poll on it.) Smile

I complained about this problem to the building manager when I moved into my first apartment. He didn't want to fix it. He said something like it was too much work or too expensive. Now I think the reason is more like the materials are crap and it will just happen again.

It also doesn't help that Korean tenants are rough with things. Just listen to the way they close doors.
