Hi everyone
I have been teaching ESL for a year now, and right now I am considering Korea to teach
As far as I know, they require a BS degree to issue a work permit.I have TEFL certificate, but did not have a BS degree, so I bought one over the net. Would they confirm it or just want to see a degree. Any info is greatly appreciated
Thank you all in advance
Andie

Nice.

If you did get hired with a bogus degree, which is possible but unlikely, I'd laugh maniacally if you got caught and deported. There are already far too many people teaching here who are unqualified, uncertified, uninterested in anything but $$$. There are far too many schools who don't give a damn about anything other than the $$$ as well, and will hire people like that.

Stay home. Sorry if that sounds unkind, but people like you perpetuate the vicious cycle of unprofessionalism that keeps most jobs in this country the nightmares they are.

Not having a BS degree, is not equal to unprofessionalism

But it does support the idea that a person who has taken a higher level of education is far less likely to be prone to making continual mistakes in basic English.

Take you for example. Both your posts are riddled with mistakes. Had you taken a higher education, the likelyhood you would be making these mistakes would be far lower.

Ironically, you are considering teaching in Korea because of the elevated wage level while the wage level is raised because the government limits who can teach English. If they lowered the educational standard required to what you would qualify under, wages would be substantially lower as anyone could teach and you would be far less interested in working here.

It is if you are intending to lie about having one, and work in a country where the minimum requirement for teaching is to possess one. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Whether you are unprofessional or not is impossible to tell (although I get a pretty good hint from your post), but there are too many people here who are lowering the bar already.

Again, sorry if I came off as harsh, but one starts to lose patience after a while, over here, with the yahoos (of which you may or may not be one).

PS I like yahoos, at the bar, definitely. But when it means worse working conditions and money out of your pocket, you've got to draw the line.

I have a TEFL certificate, and have been teaching for a year in differernt countries. I love teaching and am going to go ahead, and try Korea with my purchased BS degree. If any body out there is willing to give me some info without getting insecure, and judgemental. Please do so
I really appreciate it
Thanks to all of you in advance

Why is it you are insistent on teaching English when you are in clear need of attending English classes as a student?

Andie if you talk the way you spell, you will not get hired anywhere. There are at least 10 errors in your post. Now anyone can make a mistake or two, but 10? Is English your first language? And yes, if you come here with a bogus degree, and get caught, do not expect any sympathy. Bogus degree=pathetic loser. Harsh but true. The only reason a person would buy a bogus degree to teach in Korea is for the cash. If you are teaching, students should be your first priority, not money.

I noticed a lot of teachers who replied to my massage tend to be insecure, nit pickers, judgemental, and above all love to call names
One calls me stupid, the other calls me pathetic loser.
It is a public chat room, if you want to be unfriendly and release your frustration, send me a PM.
What is going on in Korea. Teachers seems to be .... o well
Any how, there are lots of jobs in Korea,
I do not expect any sympathy, and yes it is my first language
Once again thanks for all the private massages and tips.
See ya all in Korea soon.
