You know the story. I'm sure you've heard it all before. I've been here about 3 months now and my clothes don't fit. I'm too big to be little, and too little to be... oh wait that doesn't quite work out.
I've lost a bit of weight, and now I look frumpy in my clothes (well I feel that way anyway).
I desperately would like some jeans, pants, t's and tanks that fit a little better.
So I ask you, ladies of the board (or men who have some insight to offer), if anyone knows of any stores online that ship to Korea. I've tried a few with no success. Any websites you know of that have some pictures for my perusal would be great! My wardrobe thanks you more than you know. Very Happy

JC Penney ships to SK. I think you can use an Intl credit card. The stuff I had sent got nabbed at customs.

No JC Penney jokes, please. They have good basics.

I have bought a large amount of stuff off ebay this year and got some good bargains. What I would say is make sure you get the measurements of the clothes before you bid as I made that mistake a couple of times and ended up with some things that didn't fit. You can resell them though but it's a bit of a hassle.

There is a store in Myeong dong, on the second floor just above Kosney that opened up recently that sells really good basics and really cute stuff in general. They have a grand opening special right now where everything is under W20 000. It is a very "western" style store in that the selection is huge and that they have five sizes in almost everything(xs, s, m, l, xl). The best part is that you can try everything thing on and that no one follows you around. The dressing room area is pretty much the same as any larger store at home. They count your items, give you a quantity tag and off you go. Last time I went, I was taking in eight or nine things in at a time and nobody cared. Of course, I ended up spending way too much and have to avoid the place in order to not blow all my money there. One more thing, a lot of the stuff(tees and tanks) are around 10-15 and if you like buying a shirt for the bar/club, they have an awesome selection for around the same price(lots of halters, tube tops, etc). Have fun shopping and try not to spend too much(everyone that I've told this place about has not been able to walk away without dropping at least 200 000 Shocked)

This place in Myeong Dong is appealing to me - do you have any more specific directions? Subway stop and exit, walking directions? I will definitely check them out. Do they have "western" sizes? I'm probably looking at somewhere between 10 and a 12 (not sure how much weight I've lost exactly). I'm also fairly tall, will that work out for me?
Thanks again.
I'll check out the JCPenney as well. No jokes here - I'll take any and all suggestions!
I'm kind of leery of Ebay - had a few friends who got screwed over there, but I'll look into it.
Keep 'em coming! Smile

There are lots of online stores that ship to Korea.

www.eddiebauer.com

www.abercrombieandfitch.com

www.landsend.com

www.figleaves.com

I usually just go to www.amazon.com and look around at the clothes that are there, and see if they have international shipping. I have ordered a few things from Eddie Bauer, and am very impressed with how fast the shipping is. My friends have ordered from Fig Leaves, and that came pretty quickly, too!

Have fun shopping!

I shop regularly from JC Penny's. If you're in Seoul, make sure your orders are under 100,000 won or most likely you'll have to pay import duties on top of everything.

(luckily, the customs folks at the post office down here in the South aren't so picky)

I just ordered $500 worth of spring/summer clothes from www.llbean.com That will be it for my spring/summer spending, btw. I get WAY too stressed out shopping here. Anyway, it takes about 3-4 weeks to get your stuff (unless you order express). However, if you order from home, you get charged something like 20% duty on clothing orders over $100. You are charged the duty upon delivery, and you can expect a call from the shipping company wanting to know exactly what you ordered so they can charge you the applicable duty taxes. It's worth it, in my book.

These L.L.Bean tees are so cute- I ordered 3 different colors!

What?! Y'all need to check out the 2nd floor of the Levis store in Itaewon. I just spent 53,000 won on a pair of Levis for my husband. ^^

They can't charge duties on stuff under 100,000 won. If you're lucky, sometimes you can order over that amount and have it slip by... but that doesn't often happen in & around Seoul.

In the mean time, getting stuff altered can be very cheap here. Make the clothes you've got fit better, until the new stuff arrives.

While we're on the subject of clothes, does anyone know a tailor who will work with denim? I gave up finding jeans here and ordered from the US, but they're too big.

I went to two different tailors in Itaewon, and none of them will do it (one even laughed at me when I asked).

Any suggestions?

Some Dong-a department stores have a Marks & Spencer's section, and some of the clothes are in western sizes i.e. up to a size 16 (UK). They also have bras in slightly larger sizes than Korean stores (though Fig Leaves is an excellent online provider of underthings). M&S are admittedly a little more expensive here than in the UK, but the quality is as excellent as it ever was, and you don't have to pay shipping etc. Unfortunately, M&S in the UK don't as yet ship internationally. I wish Old Navy would, too.
