Hi, I'm leaving on a visa run to Fukuoka Thursday morning and coming back Friday afternoon. I've never been to Japan and recently read a post giving specific instructions how to get to the embassy but I can't seem to find it. Can someone let me know the easiest way to get from the ferry to the embassy and find my hotel? It's the sunlife if anyone is familiar. I was told the cab fare would be about $25 from the ferry to the embassy, is this true? Basically any information on this and any tourist sites, shopping malls I should go to while I'm waiting would be very useful. Thanks.

Can't help you with directions, but make sure to get Yen before you leave Korea. Or bring dollars.

The consulate is a couple blocks from a subway stop if you can get to the subway. I don't know where the ferry terminal is. While you're waiting, there is a little mall right across the street from the consulate. It has a Starbucks and the Fukuoka Hard Rock Cafe. Also, Fukuoka Tower is within walking distance if you fancy a view of the city and the sea. One or two subway stops away is the Ohori koen (gardens) and the Fukuoka City Art Museum, which features works by Warhol and Basquiat, among others.
