what exactly does Enis say?
I can't understand what he exactly said - anyone catch that?
something like "I brabrababa Jack...swear"
What does he mean?
Also, did Jack die as a result of gay bashing - is that what Enis was thinking because he didn't believe Jack's wife? |

I think Jack died of gay bashing, although I guess it's open to interpretation. Did his parents suspect?
I liked the boss's expression for buggery: "stemming the rose".
Anyone know if there were cuts made in the movie? Personally this was one Western movie I wouldn't have minded if they had made cuts LOOK FULL FRONTAL FEMALE NUDITY IS ART MALE NUDITY IS TERRIFYING! |

Ummmm...when the title of a thread says it's about the ending of a movie you haven't seen, perhaps a little self-restraint is called for. |

Thanks.
Yeah, I told my girlfriend I wasn't interested and so we didn't go see it when it was in the theatre here across the street from where we live.
I decided to use the film in my university classes - especially since Ang Lee is from Taiwan.
Anways, it's definitely a sad movie.
I think the mother, when Ennis went to visit Jack's parents, may have known about their secret. It's as if she wanted Ennis to see the shirts in the closet. When he came back down she already had a bag ready for him to put the shirts in.
Yeah, Quaid's character makes reference to them letting the "dogs watch the sheep" while they were out "stemming the rose" LOL!!!
Still not clsure what the final line in the movie means, "Jack, I swear..." |

In the story it is ambiguous how Jack died. One of (maybe the) final lines was "Was it the tire, or the tire iron?" |

I know the last line was "Jack, I swear", but I can't remember what it's referring to! That is what's bothering me!
I keep thinking it has something to do with the "flaskback", right at the last time they saw each other.
Any one remember what was said in the flashback? |

Maybe a bit simplistic, but it could mean that he's promising to honor Jack's wish for the disposal of his remains. I mean, he's looking at a postcard of the mountain as he's saying it, and it would sort of be like their last trip together. Dunno. It's just the first thing that sprang to mind. |

Jack, I swear... (you were the best piece of cowboy a$$ a roughneck like myself could have ever asked for)...I think that pretty much sums up the sentiment of his phrase.
Really, though. On the real. I think he was just waxing nostalgic, thinking about his soulmate, etc. |

Having red what the author of the story said after the oscars, Im glad Bareback mountain lost the Best Picture category. Ive never read such childish sour grapes.
Quote: |
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN author ANNIE PROULX has slated the Academy Awards for giving the Best Picture Oscar to CRASH at this year's (06) presentation ceremony. In an essay published by British newspaper The Guardian, Proulx describes voters as "out of touch" and "segregated" from current issues, and insists they were easily influenced by Crash's production company Lions Gate Entertainment. She writes, "Roughly 6,000 film industry voters, most in the Los Angeles area, many living cloistered lives behind wrought-iron gates or in deluxe rest homes, out of touch not only with the shifting larger culture and the yeasty ferment that is America these days, but also out of touch with their own segregated city, decide which films are good. "And rumour has it that Lions Gate inundated the academy voters with DVD copies of 'Trash' - excuse me, Crash - a few weeks before the ballot deadline. "Next year we can look to the awards for controversial themes on the punishment of adulterers with a branding iron in the shape of the letter A, runaway slaves, and the debate over free silver." |
This movie was good but the only reason it was even nominated was that its a gay story. Other than that, this is not a great movie. Substitute a woman for (P)Enis, er, I mean Enis and this is a banal little romantic flick that would be forgotten in a weekend. |

Interesting. For me, one of the few things that was actually clearly stated in the movie was how and why he died. I mean, they showed you the scene, so how can there be any doubt? |

Uh, because that scene is showing what Enis is thinking at that moment (which may be the truth.) |

I dont think they are showing what Enis is thinking, I think they are showing what really happened, and that Jack's wife was just telling the story that they're probably told everyone to avoid any...disgrace to the family? I dont know. |
