| Hi everybody! I've been offered a supervisor's position with Nowon SLP. The salary is 3.5 million Won per month, single studio accommodation, 25 hours per week, health insurance, 10 sick days per year, 15 paid vacation days (not including Korean national holidays), free Internet access, free cable, food allowance and use of the company dry cleaning account. Is this a good deal? Please let me know what you think or if you have any information on this hogwan. I am trying to decide between this job and a university position. Thanks for your help. |

| Hey, you can't really go wrong with that kind of money! But really....I haven't heard too many positive things about that place. I'll bite my tongue and hope that some employees that are there now or have worked there recently will speak up. |

3.5 for working at a hogwan for 25 hours. Yeah and cows will fly.
Namwon never gets a good write up here on the board it is known for lying. There are very few places in Korea that pay big money and the big money is always linked to places with high reputations not to a super low grade hogwan like Namwon.
The type of position you are talking about would pay about 2.5 million won for those hours at most. Now 25 class hours and 20 management hours maybe. Organising, preparing, doing timetables takes time and effort. You don't have to be too bright to work out that you aren't going to get 3.5 for 25 class hours full stop. |

| Yep. Heard several bad things about that place. Actually visited there once and the director gave me bad vibes right away. That was a few years ago. Are you sure you would actually get 3.5 million won for what sounds like not much work? I'd be skeptical at least. |

Why do people continue to ask about this place? It is famous for cruelty. I lived in Nowon-gu, and I do know about that location.
Are you a Korean? Not that it would help any if you were. They don't discriminate at Nowon slp.
Maybe some trolling?? |

| Thanks for the advice guys, I have accepted the job and it's all good. I have even been offered use of the company car which is absolutely amazing. The owner is cool, the supervisor is great and the staff seem to be okay as well, although I don't know how long this is gunna last. My first job today was to make a list of who I thought was a good teacher and who was a bad teacher. The owner was very interested and I am really worried that is gunna get ugly. I'll keep y'all posted. |

They always do that. My Wonderland did it to me (had me evaluate and observe all the foreign teachers at my school, much to their embarrasment and annoyance). I never found out why, but I suspect it was so that the supervisor could see what I was thinking about when I was watching the classes (ie, was I just staring out the window or was I actually getting something out of the (unpaid) experience?). |

| Well, why wouldn't I accept the job? Great money and benefits - does it get any better? I didn't know that I'd have to start watching teachers. Seems like this place is pretty big on watching teachers both in and out of the classroom. |
