I was sitting around the office killing time this afternoon gazing at my navel and thinking maybe I want to forego a second year in Swampville. Just thinking, no decisions.

I like lots about my job, especially the small size of classes. Other things I am not so contented with. Especially the geographical isolation. 4 1/2 hours to Seoul.

IF (IF) one were to go about locating a similar situation somewhat closer to the Golden City of the North, would there be any words of wisdom from my very highly esteemed fellow-posters?

For example (but not limited to these examples):

1. Would I need to put up with the crap of EPIK?

2. How would one find out which provinces hire directly, without EPIK or recruiters, or is that a pipe dream?

The other day, someone said in a post that he was working in a small city of 300,000. I spit my bo-kum-bap out through my nose. I live in a myon of 7,000 people. My whole high school has 116 students, drawn from a bunch of neighboring villages. I love knowing everyone's name.

Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

I only live 40 minutes away from Seoul, I tend to go atleast twice a month. I got my PS job through a recuiter. I know a couple who are in somewhat the same position and went trhough a recruiter too.

I've just secured a job in a public school in Hanam, which is apparently 30-40mins outside of Seoul. Sounds like bigger class sizes (20-40...yikes!)but reckon the working hours seem much more favourable than a Hagwon, 9-5 M-F with roughly 25 hours a week teaching time. This is going to be my first job too, and kind of took it for granted that I'd end up in a Hagwon after what I've read on here, but it all seems straight up. I am both excited and terrified Shocked
