I am wondering about the typical price of a run-of-the-mill hagwon class. I would appreciate figures like the total number of hours of class and the total price. Conversation or composition classes only, no test prep classes. Adults or kiddies...

Class size would be nice too, but I am not trying to calculate how much bank the owners are making per class. I'm just interested in knowing how much mom and pop must shell out to send junior to learn englishee. The few prices I have heard are all over the board. I suppose it just depends on where the school is located, eh?

At my old hogwan the standard rate was W135,000 / month for three 35-minute lessons a week with a foreigner and three 35-minute lessons a week with a KT.

Many of the parents should have been getting a 50% refund for what their kids actually learnt.

At my hagwon, it's 120,000/month for 3 hours/wk and 150,000/month for 4.5 hours/week.

Mine is 210,000 won per month for 12 90-minute classes (ie/ 3 times a week, 45 minutes with the foreign teacher and 45 minutes with the Korean teacher).

My previous hagwon was 120,000 won per month for 12 60-minute classes with only a foreign teacher.

My hagwon before that was 290,000 per month for 12 90-minute classes with only a foreign teacher.

lower to mid end hogwons charge from 90k-120k for 3 times 45 minutes a week depending on location; most of em for English are around 120.

The prices above would be more useful if we knew how many students were in each class, that is, the guaranteed maximum enrollment. Koreans generally pay much more for small enrollment classes in any subject, these days, than for the high enrollment classes.
