Textbook could teach kids sovereignty
Gotta love those separtists. I love this tidbit...

The book includes a child's drawing of a Canadian flag being torn in half — even though the Quebec publisher, Les Intouchables, thanks the federal government for financial aid in publishing its works. |

Well, one good thing could be said about this, Canada upholds the people's right to free speech no matter how regressive and stupid it is.
As for allowing the Bloc Quebecois to have any say in deciding the future of the country, this is ridiculous. Would you hire someone whose openly tells you he's going to leave your company and take a prime chunk of it with him someday?
I don't know who is dumber, the Quebecois or the Canadian gov.? |

Hi! I'm Quebecois!
Well, actually just descended from there.
No real problem with seperatists in general I suppose, but a big problem with governments sponsering those who oppose the unity of the nation.
Interesting to learn that that goes on north of the Great Lakes too.
Is it still a serious movement though? Last I think I heard was that the majority of Quebecois no longer support secession. Not true? |

Naw, I heard the same thing. I think that is why the separtists are getting scared and trying to launch stupid propaganda. If you can't sway the thinking adults, go for the children. |

They've been focusing on kids for years, actually. The only thing that has changed is that they are going after the younger ones now. |

Actually that proposition was basically shot down by the teachers union and by most of the respondants in various surveys across QC.
This is one more sad twist in the desperate quest of the hard core separatists. The PQ even decried the move by the sovereignty council (an independant entity not to be confused with the party itself). |

But, the idea of creating a 'seperatist-friendly' curriculum has been planted. It remains to be seen whether this will have any affect on the school curriculum in the years to come. |

Separtists from ANY part of Canada are terrible, but the Quebecois are the worst!
I agree with free speech, right to chose, right to do as you feel, but if they don't like the country, they should pack up and move the F* out!~
Enough already, the quebecois have gotten every demand that they've asked for.
It's time for the Gov' to grow some balls and stop allowing them to get away with everything. |

Is that a joke?
Ontario gives a lot more to the federal government than they get in return. |

Hilarious!
Yes we do give into the perequation scheme to help out less fortunate provinces.
However, we get most gov contracts tossed our way, we get to run parlienment and insure corrupt liberals stayed in power from 1993 to 2005.
Want examples?
Where did Toyota go to build its newest factory?
The maritimes where jobs are really needed?
Prairies?
Nope....smack dad in the middle of Ontario where we already have a Toyota factory.
Then there is the Toronto question....
Ontario gives money into perequation as canadian law proscribes. so does Alberta now, since they are riched than the national average.
Ontario receives far more from a federal system it basically controls (or controlled depending on what Harper does now). As an Ontarian by birth this is as clear to me as the sun in the sky. Why do you think many other provinces (not just QC) grumble? It is because, for a long time the interests of Ontario were the priority and the rest felt left out.
Now...how do we give more than we received again? |

I didn't know that Toyota was owned by the Canadian governement.
I believe it was more Toronto keeping the Liberals in power for so long... my rural Ontario riding has been Conservative for years.
I think Ontario has more representation than other provinces because it has a bigger population. If the bitching separtists had the same numbers then they could control the system more. I think people get sick of the the Bloc et al. because they are a minority that gets everything they want from the feds.
