Army no place for gays
The Defense Ministry is considering scrapping or easing some regulations on homosexuality inside the military....

It's like a gay soldier in the barracks is suddenly going to be offering bjs to all the stressed recruits? A gay soldier, especially in Korea, is pretty much going to abide by the "don't ask don't tell". I would hope gay or straight anyone having sex in the barracks would mean you're booted out. The editorial seemed unusually harsh.

It's like the fear a gay teacher is going to seduce the captain of the football team. Our daughters have more to fear from bored 40ish straight married teachers than our sons have to fear from a gay teacher.

it is the dilemma of the ministry of defense. if they scrape the law and allow discharge of homosexuals, many heterosexuals will also declare themselves homosexul just to evade military service. i don't think they can abolish it.

From what I've heard, quite a few straight soldiers in the Korean forces start adopting the " any port in a storm" theory. Perhaps they're worried about the gay soldier being attacked and not the other way around?

And shame their family? I can't see many Koreans wanting to risk being shunned by their entire family for being homosexual.
