I know this will go right over the head of some people, but can anyone tell me how much Premiership football is shown on Korean TV? (if any). |

Star Sports and MBC-ESPN show games during the league season, usually show one game from a 3pm kick-off in England (around 11pm or 12am here) |

I'm an Aberdeen man myself, so the Premiership ain't much use to me.
Have to admit to following Man United ever since Alex Ferguson went there and took Jim Leighton with him. He had Gordon Strachan there at the time too. And Martin Buchan (another Aberdeen legend) was an ex-Man Utd captain so there's a fair few links.
How about you?
And do you follow Korean fitba at all? |

Once and for all, which league is the best? Ronaldo, Figu and Zidane play for Real Madrid. Does that mean the Spanish league is better or just richer? I've been told by an Englishman that many players do not play in the Premier league because it is too physical.
Excuse my soccer ignorance but I became a fan late. |

different leagues are better for different reasons... technicaly spanish is probably the best - but a physical quick game - you cant beat british football

Do Korean students get into football?
Where I teach now, they are mad for it so even though I don't know much about it, I use it for discussion topics, sit back and watch even the most quiet students fire away for 40 mins, they are passionate. Would this work in Korea? |

The Beckham transfer deal was a big thing amongst my students, my 5th grade boys class wanted to talk about that non-stop in one class, and it was a topic that had them rivited to their seats and chatting away in English for one hour, so it was a definite winner.
During the World Cup, if I even mentioned football the kids were well into it.
Surprisingly though, the Korean football league isn't followed much by Koreans, which is surprising given that it's so bloody cheap. You can get yourself a ticket for any K-league match in Korea for less than 10,000 (that's 5 quid). I got into a K-league game once for 2,000 (one quid!). Standard's possibly on a par with English 1st Division, although recently Busan hammered Feyenoord 4-1 and just on Tuesday Songnam beat Besiktas 2-1 so the standard's not too poor.
Try getting into an English Premiership or 1st Division game (or for that matter an Scottish Premier match) for less than a fiver..
GirlFromMars, it's worth your while learning the names of some of the bigger football stars and mentioning them every now and again, it's a bit like learning some Wrestling names/terms.. it's a sure-fire winner with most boys. |

I have great chats with an 8 year old Korean boy about soccer every week. We just mention players names and say "Oooh, very good player" etc. With all the transfers recently there's a lot to "talk" about! I swear he knows every European club and who plays with them. Father must have the sports channels on all day and all night... |

True, but this gravy train ends in April or so when the bloody baseball season starts and takes over. At least it does on the cable package I'm on.
And yes, I'm bitter.

My favorite is the Premiership by far, but horses for courses. I like the more physical game.

There aren't any first division teams in Essex so I gues you might be a Hammers fan??
Of course no chance of any Div 1 on TV but the PC rooms have a good fast connection for listening to streaming commentary on your club's internet site. Get into a fans chatroom at the same time and you have a nice 'matchday experience'! |

Most premiership clubs want a subscription to fully use their websites, (approx 120 quid per year for Liverpool), and to listen to match commentary. Bit greedy in my opinion.
My old favorite for radio commentary, Five Live, don't web-cast live matches anymore. (you can't beat an excited Alan Green!!)
Last season in Korea I was reduced to watching the tele-printer on the BBC website. A bit lame.
If your club is playing one of the 'Big Three', Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, then you have a chance of seeing a live game on TV. |
