Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a suit and wanna know whats better to get.

It's for job interviews/work in England and on my return, work in a public school here.

Now I've got 400,000w to spend and its looking like I'll be buying from Itaewon or Songtan but I am struggling to find the reason to buy a 3 piece. When is a vest ever useful? How much more would a 3 piece cost?

depends on what kind of work you want to get into.

I have two of each, they are all nice suits however I can say without doubt that the three piece gets more compliments. Having said that mine were custom made so I am sure that would have something to do with it

If you going into business, consulting, marketing and the like I would suggest a three piece.

On the other hand a two piece would be more suitable for some other occupations.

If its simply just for the interview my reccomendation would be a three piece, remember you can take the vest off and you then have a two piece.

Good luck

It also depends on your age. A three-piece doesn't suit a young fellow - it can look a bit stodgy if you're not mature enough for it.

Take the above poster's advice, though: buy the three-piece and take the vest off when it's not needed.

Well I'm only 23 and I'm actually only getting casual work, I come back here in the summer. The suit is mainly for me to wear to school as I'm wanting more proffessional attire.

I'm gonna go with a 2 piece for now, if I need a 3 piece I can always pick one up later.

Thanks for the advice.

I like the vest without the jacket while working on occasion. it keeps a professional feel but still light enough around the office.

I have one three piece suit that I love - the weight of the material is too heavy though so I can only wear it when it's cool outside. Anyhow it feels great when you take the jacket off and are doing something wearing just the vest - I feel like some sort of wheeling & dealing high powered gambler.

As for two piece suits you might consider a double breasted - it's a power suit and more formal than the single breast. I've got 3 of those and 3 single breasted as well. It's great to be able to wear a variety of different suits.

Do people (ie non lawyers) still wear three piece suits? I don't think they've been in style since 1980.

any suit is in style unless it was some sort of fad like pastel colored suits.

No way. Collars, vents, shoulder padding, loose or tight tailoring, pant styles, etc. all change.
