|
|
Somehow my ipod took to "erasing" itself in its entirety.
It has been lost for about 3 weeks and we just found it again. Happy as hell to play with it. I used it this weekend for about an hour with no problems.
THEN on monday while driving in, the ipod freezes. No problems, i says, just press the kill switch (holding down select and menu for a few seconds).
Done.
And back up it comes...but THIS time, with NOTHING on it. Music AND photos are all "gone". The information page says there are 0kbs and 0songs.
hm...a quandry to be sure.
So I go home and plug it back in. There are difficulties getting itunes to not freeze up. I unplug the ipod and reboot the computer....ahhhh.... there we go.
I make sure it's set for autoupdates (so i can just plug it in and whamo!)
I plug it in; wait 10minutes.
And boom (weird...after ten minutes?) it SHOWS on the ipod that everything is back (4gigs 1300songs[ish]).GREAT, I figure...but I forget to test it.
Then again, driving to play practice, i try it again and BOOM, it freezes again and everything erases.
1) Has anyone else had ANYTHING like this happen?
2) The website has said that there is no way to erase the contents of your ipod on your ipod alone.....WTF?
3) Anyone dealt with apple AS in korea? Specifically in Busan? I just found a new shop across from migliore that looks pretty pimped.... I'm flustered though, i tells ya. |

I haven't had a disaster like that but for practical use I do find the iPod cryptic.
Of course, the design and sound quality are first class, but trying to put something on .... Jeeeez, it's almost like using DOS 2.11 again. So much for "easy Apple". |

I used to have the same experience on my crappy old 256mb Mp3 player that I got before my I-podnano. In about 3 years of using it it crashed maybe 5 times (but just needed the batteries taking out, putting back in again, turned on and then everything was fine), and on maybe 5 other times I would turn it on to find there was nothing on it.
I think its more of a problem with flash-chip memories than with I-pods themselves, but I'm not happy to hear that it can still happen to them no matter how expensive they are. |

I bought a new IPod 40 gig and it died after 4 months, they gave me a new one. The new one died after 7 months. Finally, I bought N Iriver H10. I like to Iriver because you can record, also it has a detachable battery. It can be used as a hard disk as well. The sound quality is much better.
Time will tell. |

My friend got an I-pod mini. She used it about 4 months. She bought a cheap I-river .mp3 to use instead. She claims that melon or some other services by SK don't allow their music to be played on I-pods? She now doesn't use the thing (I-pod).
Sounds like Korea was gettin' mighty freaked out by Apple controlling "their" market. |

All versions of the H10 are great little players and beat the iPods, hands-down. H10s include everything that an iPod has an a ton more, including a detachable battery, radio, a picture viewer, recording capabilities, and a text viewer. It also uses the same mp3 organising technology.
It would be a true iPod killer if the cult users of mac crap would just open their eyes. |
