Does anyone know where I can buy a fitted sheet set for a queen-sized bed?
Thanks

Ooooops.... thought that was a solicitation. My bad.
(Granted I was wondering how it could be that difficult to meet westerners.)

They are becoming more common and I have seen them sold in Emart and Carrefour. Costco also has some. Those are your best bet, I think. |

E-mart's natural basic or basic living.. something like that, has some nice, neutral looking beeding. You might want to try there. |

HomePlus has fitted sheets for Korean Queen sized beds, but the sets are quite expensive. I think it'd be almost cheaper to get some shipped over from JC Penny.
Measure your bed first though & compare it with sizes back home. I'm pretty sure what's called a Queen here is more like a double back home. |

Martha Stewart. She's been hoarding in order to drive the market price up........give her a call and explain your situation. That or you'll have to wait until the commodities regulators catch up to her...

I always find it funny when people ask about bedding. I had no idea that beds came in different sizes before I came to Korea. Yeah, I've been deprived... Personally, I like to save decent money - bedding here looks really expensive for the want of just a bit of cloth. I have a solution in buying a 9000 won duvet cover from E-mart and find that it's big enough to act as a sheet for even a large bed. It's nice and cushy, too, rather than getting itchy from the mattress. It just about fits in washing machine, too, or nevermind, I can buy a new one each season. And who the heck needs a pillow? If you do, just use a rolled-up old t-shirt. Save your cash for more useful things!
Anyone who wants tips on how to cut more corners can ask right here! |

Hotpants, with your post, it looks like you've just designated yourself as the Itaewonguy of the cheapskate world.
Maybe that is the biggest problem facing Korea today, so many self-appointed experts.
From the elderly adjosshis on TV who are suddenly experts on vacuum cleaners, to ajummas who try and talk the talk selling packets of cotton panties, while wide eyed blonde models from Vladivostock walk the walk to their left.
So, how do I legally save money on subway journeys, apart from the obvious: a reduced travel card or taking the bus/walking/bike? Do tell. |

Ha!
Hmm, that's actually a difficult one, as you've already given obvious answers...
You did stipulate 'legal'...
I do have some strategies for minimizing the use of the subway, but the only other way is to try and wing a lift from someone (preferably someone you're already acquainted with!) for free.
Today, I've been reading about the case of a guy, Kyle MacDonald, who offered a paper-clip to trade for a house. He has gone through exchanging several items online and currently has for himself a year's worth of rent for free. He's been featured on networks from ABC to BBC. Fantastic. You might wanna check out his story: oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com
About my cost-cutting...I just see too many ex-pats leaving far too much behind when they move on. Better to save money on things which you don't really need and know you'll not be able to carry it out the country with you. |
