hello,
i have one nite for a trip. leave saturday morning come back sunday evening. the choices are kyoto (best but most expensive), hong kong or taiwan. i have a pretty good idea of what we'll get in kyoto, but not about hong kong or taiwan. just looking for dinner, views, maybe some site seeing within a neighborhood and a little shopping at traditionally style markets.

any recommendations?

thanks

Holy crap. One night. GO TO KYOTO. I don't know how much longer the flights are to Taiwan or HongKong, but when dealing with so little time, every hour counts... Shocked

Make your jump to HongKong. Stay on the Kowloon side of the harbor. Night shopping at Temple street market.

If you have some daylight time... then make the trip across the harbor on the star ferry ( the old fashioned sytle green ones) and then go up to the top of Victoria Peak for the views of HongKong and the harbor.

You can get a whole pack of tourist information and stuff in the airport at the booth in the arrivals hall. It is the stop immediately after you go through passport control and BEFORE you leave the secure section and get into the public areas.

Take the #11a bus downtown. I think the cost is $33 HKD. Have a great trip.
