Just wondering if anyone might happen to know how long it takes to talk to immigration Canada at Vancouver International Airport once my wife lands with her permanent resident visa. She has just received her visa in her passport and I would like to make travel arrangments as soon as possible, as I'd like to spend one whole lovely summer in Canada. However, we need to fly from Vancouver to my hometown. Thus, I'm wondering if we should't stay overnight in Vancouver at a hotel in case immigration is behind schedule, etc. For example, if we had a connecting flight that was departing too soon after arrival in Vancouver, we might miss it. On the other hand, we have a new baby, so I wouldn't mind just getting all our traveling done as soon as possible, no matter how painful, so we can get home and relax IF going through immigration in Vancouver is easy. Any experience with this anyone?
Her visa only took three and a half months to be processed from the time we sent in the initial paperwork (not six months!), although I did all the paperwork very meticulously and we paid all the fees up front, rather than electing to pay them when the visa was to be issued. |
