We're looking for jobs that start in August or September. My husband is an artist, and he needs to have a room/warehouse/garage that he could turn into a studio. We've done pretty well with putting our bed in the living room of a one-bedroom house and making the bedroom a studio, but we're wondering if finding a one-bedroom apartment will be tough (especially with what they tend to give you in teaching contracts).

We'd love to live in Seoul, but since we'll be paying for the art studio ourselves, we're worried about costs. We're also worried that if we went to TOO small a village, they wouldn't have any space available for rent.

Has anyone faced this problem before? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Lots of people get offered a two- or even three-bedroom apartment.

If you end up in my neighborhood, I'd be glad to rent you my third (and unused) bedroom.

Maybe my question is moot, then. I thought they might squeeze us into a studio to save money. We haven't actually applied for any specific jobs yet (though we just registered with Footprints), so I might just be going through that "too good to be true" phase. If we scored a one-bedroom (I can only dream of a 2!), we'd be set! Thanks for giving me hope!

You're best bet is probably to take the housing allowance and find your own place to live. A lot of artists I've met set-up the extra bedroom in a two bedroom apartment as their studio. Space is a premium so unless you're rich it's probably the best bet.
