Where should we stay in Ko Samui. My girlfriend and I are going to Thailand for our honeymoon. We want a mid range bungalo? The main question I have is where are the best spots on Ko-Samui. We're up for a bit of action and some beach laziness.

We'll only have a few days to spend there.

Any tips would be welcomed.

Ive been to Samui a few times.
Chaweng beach is the nicest beach by far and the nightlife is pretty pumping there too. The beach is always pretty packed but still its great.

There's also all types of accomadation available there. You can get huts for about 300/350 baht a night(about7$) and also in spent one night in a 5star hotel room(albeit on the floor) and that place was a palace and i think was about 40$ a night-also on the beach.

'Chaweng Beach Gardens' is an evergrowing huts place. They've shitoads of all varieties, some basic and some really really sweeeeet, at the beach and great location for the nightlife too.


Having said this Im not a fan of Chawend at all, nor Lamai beach which others may recommend. What I would do(asnd it depends on your preferences) is stay in Bophut, which is on 'Big Buddha beach' and actually right by the airport. Its much quieter and you can escape being mobbed by various sellers and all those trying to pry your money from you. Theres also some sweeeet reesorts and hut places there-and they're MUCH cheaper than in Chaweng! Theres absolutely no nightlife but thats fine cos just get a taxi or 'bahtbus' (big tuktuk) to Chawend which is about 15minute ride away...


Actually come to think of it:THIS is what I would do if i were you:
Go to Samui, then get the ferry to Ko Tao(they go about 3times a day and its only an hour or so, dead cheap too)

I decided that its where Im going to take my wife for a honeymoon, if its still as it is now. Much better for that imo. Its an island very much geared to scuba diving but its great all round too and much less spoiled than Samui.. U should consider it.

i liked Lamai Beach much better. It is close enough to Chaweng if you want the night life, and it is much less trodden. It also has sufficent choices for restaurants, shopping and bars, which the smaller beaches don't have..

i stayed at Utopia bungalow which was a great deal for the cost. Very clean, modern, breakie included, and it was at the very end of the beach, closest to Chaweng beach, so there was very little traffic from the neighbors.
