Does it exsist? I'm on a diet and I like noodles but the ramyon I can find in most stores is just so horrendously bad for you I've avoided it.

I know you can get healthy eating supernoodles in the UK so such a thing DOES exsist but has Korea made that leap?

im not sure, but there are mini noodle cups that are healthier. The title is something like 100 calorie. they're at all the ministops. also, try udong, which is not fried, and IMHO, more delicious.

The English think like Koreans, then? Wink

I think that ramyon noodles are pretty harmless in themselves, but it's the salt/msg/other nameless chemical "soup" package that does the damage.

Try making your own broth and adding some ramyon noodles. Throw that pouch o' poison in the bin, though. Boil some lean beef w/ bones or skinless chicken w/ bones, add a bit of pepper and seasoning...good, simple broth.

Just dont get the styrofoam ones. They release bad stuff into you, cause cancer, kill labrats, etc..

The noodles aren't harmless; they're deep fried in oil, usually containing trans fat (the worst of the fats). There is a kind that isn't deep fried. I can't remember what it is called -- the packaging is yellow and green. You'll still get all the nasty salt and MSG though.

i stopped eating ramyon after my doctor told me my blood pressure has gone up... a bowl of shin ramyon has 2400+ mg of sodium... almost the daily limit of 2,500 mg!

A friend of mine (a trained chef) told me that if you boil the noodles for 90 seconds, drain and wash them with cold water, then add the seasoning and boil for 90 more seconds there will be less fat.

Less fat -- yes. I've heard that too. How much less though? I really have no idea. But even if it was 50% less, that's still too much trans fat for anyone.

Why not just eat a donut? They'll kill you just as fast, but they're so much tastier.....

Koreans are very health-conscious people. They banned US beef and kimchi from China. But look at the TV commercials. Half of them are advertising ramyon. Adults and kids, everybody loves ramyon. So stop you're whining and eat a bowl. Right, Tiberious? I know he agrees with me.

Not sure if I would label it 'well being', or 'ramyon' for that matter, but you may find Į to be a decent substitute. It's laden with sodium, but the fat content is quite low. If you go here, you can see the package in question.

Hope that information can be of some use to you, and if it isn't, please feel free to blow me.

I dont know how health concsious most Koreans are. I mean, most women try to stay thin but there are a lot of people who go boozing and pork/beefing far too often. Anyway, I once had a korean tell me that ramyon is garbage food. I get the imression its the mac and cheese, just feeding myself in a hurry, of the east.

Korean ramyeon was pulled from the shelves in Britain because of radiation at dangerous levels (done to preserve "freshness").

I know a dozen Koreans who won`t eat ramyeon noodles because of health reasons. So there is some cultural awareness of it as NOT contributing to "well being".

One ajumma with half-decent English skills even called it "junk food" for teenagers and young men.

please, if you're eating ramyun, don't make faces like you're having an orgasm like the 20something pink-shirt nerdboys in the TV ads.

it's always 2 dudes eating ramyun together, and it always ends up looking like it's better than sex.
