well hey, if anyone wanted to throw a "eat and drink from Dave's night" together somewhere in Seoul near Itaewon, I would love to go. I always enjoy placing a face with a name. If you guys are interested, let's host one up.
I'd love to do it during the lunch time on a Saturday. I think it'd be fun. If some are go, the wife and I are good. |

I would count Itaewonguy and Eamo as genuine real life friends. THough I don't see them half as much as I'd like... |

Met tons of people. Know tons as well who think this place is that dorky place where netnerds converge to talk about irrelevant crap.
And then there's people I meet and find out later that they post on here. Even people who say they don't know anybody who posts on here more than likely do.
It's a crazy, mixed up world I tells ya. |

I've met some jolly nice friends from here. Only counting the people I've had actual conversations with....
(in order of appearance)
Sofa King
Swiss James
Jack the Cat
Blunder
Yu Bum Suk
Derrick
Quinella
apologies if I've forgotten anyone. Don't think I have though.
I know one other person who works for the same organization as me, but he doesn't know that I'm me on here as far as I'm aware. I know someone else at my work but have totally forgotten their ID. It's possible that some posters know me but I don't know their Daves IDs, the little devils! Sofa King was able to figure out who I am on Dave's, which rather suggests I'm the exact same arsehole in real life.
One guy I know well doesn't wanna post because Dave's is full of whiney tossers, which isn't an unreasonable view at all in my opinion. |

I haven't been too easy to recognize, judging from the Dave's posters I've met. I did chat with a girl once for about 5 minutes before said "Holy smokes, I think I read your blog!" I think the clues were "Winnipeg, Everland, and cheese."
Most people are disappointed that I'm not really very green. |

Some of my best friends in Seoul are/were Dave's people. Including Zyzyfer and Satori. I'm proud to say The Bobster was 'best man' at my wedding. Of course, I use the term 'best man' in the broadest possible terms!!
The biggest surprise was meeting Itaewonguy. Mr. Exclamation is actually mild-mannered and very cool in real-life.
Toby is cool but they banned him.
Lawyertood gets me drunk on a regular basis.
I think there is enough new posters these days to warrant another gathering soon. We had some pretty good parties back in 2003-2004. On at least one night around 70 posters turned up!!!
Let's do it again soon. |

I know about 20 people who post here regularily, and a few lurkers. . . I have phone numbers for 12. Some others know me. Some know of me.
I am pretty much the same in person: starting off, I'm often friendly, sometimes I'm cantankerous, sometimes I'm an asshole. . .depends on the day and what kind of person you are. I respond in kind to how I'm treated, so you want to see my good side show me yours. Anything I say here I'll say in public; I've never had a serious argument about anything I've said here, and usually when I express my views with others it's a two way reciprocal thing and doesn't degenerate into mayhem and conflict. I've had disagreements with people before, but hardly anything of the likes I've seen here. What you read from here is what I think, unless of course it's dripping with sarcasm and said tongue in cheek.
If I meet you in person, and you need help, I'm usually willing and able. I'm generous to a fault; ask my wife, it drives her crazy. But don't expect me to hold your hand when you cross the street; I expect most adults to be capable of dealing with life's little potholes and speedbumps on their own.
And yes, the board is nicer than it was a few years ago. |

I'd be up for another get together.. haven't been to one in 2 years now (I think), but they've usually been good fun...
I wonder if people will group according to board allegances... expatsinkorea to the left, dave's to the right, everyone else battle for position... |
