Is it worth paying more for something with a view in an officetel-like apartment? I'm talking about view of "a city" in a high-rise building.

I was recommended a one-room place that has no view (a wall of the next building), cost 400,000 won per month, utilities/maintenance fees are about 100,000 won, has some furnitures blah blah etc...

It is, supposedly, the only available apartment that is closest to the station and school (should I believe this?). There are others, but are probably a bus ride away or more expensive.

So is it worth it for those living in Korea, or are people happy with living in whatever boxes that are available? I'll have to give my answers to the agent today unfortunately otherwise that one-roomer will be gone.

i guess it depends on the key money.

If there's a roof you can go on during the nicer weather (compared to Canada, Korea has nice weather almost always), I wouldn't worry too much about the view in your apartment (depending, of course, on how much money you would save).

But this seems like a strange question to ask others: how can you not answer this on your own?

I guess what I meant was whether people here look forward to going to a home or just a place to sleep. Like is Korea interesting enough to spend all one's time out of the house than in. In Japan, rent was costly so I didn't care if I had a small place as long as I could sleep somewhere (sometimes its cheaper to be out of the house than in and more interesting too).

I've got a number of big windows but I really don't use them for the view, but the views of an office building across the way or another apartment block aren't that endearing. I'm not really a view person but at the same time I'm not a fan of rooms without windows.
