hey guys,
i'm heading to korea soon and will be doing a visa run to japan to get my E-2. i'm a little nervous - how does the whole thing work? and will my not-speaking-japanese-ness be a problem? this will be my first time to be in a country where i don't speak any of the language. any advice, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated. . .
thanks much! |

Not too hard. If you're going to osaka, pretty simple: board train into central Osaka, ride it to the end of the line, get off. Walk out the right exit, look for the holiday inn, consulate is across the street. Simple. |

Actually it's even simpler. It's a game I like to call 'follow whitey.' Most of the people on the plane from incheon t osaka are doing the visa run and chances are one of them will have done it before. Find that whitey and follow them to the consulate. |

Basically the same if you do the visa run from Busan to Fukuoka. There will be lots of white people on the ferry and they will almost all be doing going for their visas. Just find the "fu-ko-ka dome" and walk around it until you see a guard and the Korean flag if all else fails.
I was worried about the language barrier too so I brought a phrasebook and I didn't even use it once. You'll figure it out no problem. |
