I want to take the GRE soon, so I'm planning to take it while in Korea but wasn't sure if it would put me at a disadvantage since I'm not completely fluent in Korean. Obviously the test is all in English, but I'm assuming proctors, etc would be Korean.

Not in Korea, but I have some prep software with me here if you want it.

I took it in Seoul, the proctors are Korean but the test itself is not a problem.

I took the subject GRE in Busan two weeks ago. The proctors spoke instructions in both languages as ETS likely mandates this for foreigners taking the test. Don't worry about that and concentrate on preparing for the test. Buy a good book like the Kaplan prep.

I'm wondering the same thing. I saw on an ETS webiste that there is only one time available to take the test, and that is June 10th. Is that true? Does anyone have any contact information?

That is likely true. Contact information will be on ETS' website (ets.org), and they can hook you up with the host universities, which will probably be a choice of Seoul, Busan, or Daegu. If June 10 isn't good for you a quick trip to Japan or Thailand (yay!) might be necessary, as you can write anytime in those places.

For the computer based test it looks like the test centers are Mapo, Jongno, Daegu...and the test can be taken pretty much anytime it looks like.

Only the essay section can be taken at any time. The verbal/analytical part can only be taken on June 10th.

I take the computer portion (writing) tomorrow. However, I think you might be too late for that portion, which means you might have to wait until December to take the full test in Korea.
Call the test center's office at 02-3211-1233 for more information.

So then if I wait till December, can I take the whole at once on paper?

I feel iffy about taking it on a computer...
