I've just read on another site that government schools in Seoul pay extra cash ($100 or more monthly) to teachers having a CELTA, Trinity or TEFL International certificate.

Does anyone have any information on this?

I know they do in Busan, Changwon and Jeollanamdo.

CELTA and its equivalent is accepted on par with a Master's in terms of pay scale.

All of the government programs and public schools (day programs) bump you up one level for TESOL, CELTA, or BEd.

So if you are a:
Level 3 (basic minimum qualifications) and get a TESOL cert (more than 100 hrs) then you get bumped up to level 2.
Level 2 + certification + experience and you get bumped up to level 1.

Yup... cash in the bank...
