Iran Declares War

New York Sun Editorial
May 11, 2006
A D V E R T I S E M E N T

President Ahmadinejad's letter to President Bush, widely interpreted as a peaceful overture, is in fact a declaration of war. The key sentence in the letter is the closing salutation. In an eight-page text of the letter being circulated by the Council on Foreign Relations, it is left untranslated and rendered as "Vasalam Ala Man Ataba'al hoda." What this means is "Peace only unto those who follow the true path."

It is a phrase with historical significance in Islam, for, according to Islamic tradition, in year six of the Hejira - the late 620s - the prophet Mohammad sent letters to the Byzantine emperor and the Sassanid emperor telling them to convert to the true faith of Islam or be conquered. The letters included the same phrase that President Ahmadinejad used to conclude his letter to Mr. Bush. For Mohammad, the letters were a prelude to a Muslim offensive, a war launched for the purpose of imposing Islamic rule over infidels.

Just give it up, people. The sooner we accept Islam, the better. You know its inevitable. Don't fight it.

Also, I hate white people.

And after the stunning job America has done in Iraq, Iranians can hardly wait to be liberated and become an American-sponsored democracy, can they?

Actually what ever govt the Iranians choose is their affair. What they do with their oil is their business. If they don't like capitalism then that is their choice.

However they don't have a right to their war.

I've listened to / read countless hours of the rhetoric on both sides. They are both bloody delusional and insane and don't represent the actual people on the ground. Scary how the people making decisions are really fucking crazy. Watching the comments of the so called, "head of the U.S. mission to the U.N." made me laugh -- so much arrogance. So too with Mr. Ahmandinejad. Frickin' pitiful.

So too with Mr. Joo Rip. Delusional . The statement,

makes no sense. Just like the crazies on either side, it is always "their" / "them" that is the problem. What a stupid statement and shows has it is always, black and white, Darth and Skywalker, truth vs evil, us and them to folks like these............ they will read anything and turn it into a war.......bread and butter men Seuss woulda said.

9/11 Commission Finds Ties Between al-Qaeda and Iran
Senior U.S. officials have told TIME that the 9/11 Commission's report will cite evidence suggesting that the 9/11 hijackers had previously passed through Iran

Quote:
On June 25, 1996, Iran again attacked America at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, exploding a huge truck bomb that devastated Khobar Towers and murdered 19 U.S. airmen as they rested in their dormitory. These young heroes spent every day risking their lives enforcing the no-fly zone over southern Iraq; that is, protecting Iraqi Shiites from their own murderous tyrant. When I visited this horrific scene soon after the attack, I watched dozens of dedicated FBI agents combing through the wreckage in 120-degree heat, reverently handling the human remains of our brave young men. More than 400 of our Air Force men and women were wounded in this well-planned attack, and I was humbled by their courage and spirit. I later met with the families of our lost Khobar heroes and promised that we would do whatever was necessary to bring these terrorists to American justice. The courage and dignity these wonderful families have consistently exemplified has been one of the most powerful experiences of my 26 years of public service.

Amir Taheri: Khomeinists hammering new strategy to oust 'Great Satan'

Quote:
But at almost exactly the same time, militants from some 40 countries spread across the globe were trekking to Tehran for a 10-day "revolutionary jamboree" in which "a new strategy to confront the American Great Satan" will be hammered out. The event is scheduled to start on February 1 to mark the 25th anniversary of the return to Iran from exile of the late Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the "Islamic Revolution".

It is not clear how many militants will attend, but the official media promise a massive turnout to underline the Islamic Republic's position as the "throbbing heart of world resistance to American arrogance."

The guest list reads like a who-is-who of global terror.

In fact, most of the organisations attending the event, labelled "Ten-Days of Dawn", are branded by the US and some European Union members as terrorist outfits. For more than two decades, Tehran has been a magnet for militant groups from many different national and ideological backgrounds.

The Islamic Republic's hospitality cuts across even religious divides. Militant Sunni organisations, including two linked to Al Qaida, Ansar al-Islam (Companions of Islam) and Hizb Islami (The Islamic Party), enjoy Iranian hospitality.

They are joined by Latin American guerrilla outfits, clandestine Irish organisations, Basque and Corsican separatists, and a variety of leftist groups from Spartacists to Trotskyites and Guevarists. Tehran is the only capital where all the Palestinian militant movements have offices and, in some cases, training and financial facilities.

Iran also killed the translators of the book the Satanic Verses in countries as far away as Japan.

Now would you mind explaining that? Can you?

Who is delusional? Or may you are just an apologist for Khomeni and his followers.

I hate Khomeini and his ilk, leftovers.........moreso than America's leadership. Much more so. Stated it over and over, if you read.

Still , your post proves my point. You are all about WAR, KILLING, TAKING IT TO EM , ETC..............and about proving all your points with biased reports/judgements. What you are not about is dialogue, truth and the common guy who suffers on the ground in BOTH cases.

All in All -- I still call it delusional.

Leaders have used wars for millenia for several reasons. To provide a sense of unity among their people, and to kill off a certain large number of young unemployed men.

Iran has a lot of young, angry, unemployed, men, many falling into the grip of drug abuse.

Sometimes people forget to look at internal domestic issues when assessing leadership's actions.

Maybe Ahmedinajab (sp?) actually A. believes he could win a war with the US or B. really truly BELIEVES the 12 th Imam is about to pop onto the scene.

His letter to Bush was obviously an "invitation" to Islam. What sort of 'diplomac gesture' is that?

biased reports and jugements? Oh the media is part of the conspriacy? Oh Ok Rolling Eyes

Look THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM IF THE KHOMENI FOLLOWERS GAVE UP THEIR WAR .

Case and point : Khaddafy gave up his war or most of it and now the US doesn't bother the jerk.

The problem isn't the US the problem those who follow Khomeni , Bin Laden or Nasser or the Bathist ideology. They are evil ideologies that do not accept the idea of co existance.

The Iranian President seems to be a very honest man. He means what he says, but Westerners seem intent to ignore his statements regarding Israel, and his recent letter to President Bush, which he has now confirmed was an invitation to Islam, which was often an excuse for war throughout Islamic history.

http://www.irna.ir/en/news/view/line-24/0605110155191821.htm

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Thursday that his letter to President George W. Bush did not concern the nuclear dossier, but rather was an invitation to Islam and the prophets culture.

If the call is responded positively, there will be no more problems to be solved," added the president.

What so many liberals fail to understand is that to people like Ahmadinejad, there are only two types of people, Muslims and Infidels, and if the infidels want peace 'they have to accept to be governed by Islam'. Sooner, or later you are going to have to deal with Islam, and all the phoney dialogue in the world will not help you. You either reject Shariah, or you choose to be subjugated to it. Ahmadinejad, and many in the Islamic world, are very direct about what they stand for, and it is time the West did the same.

Actually, Islam and Shariah Law (which you have defended) does not accept coexistence. Khomeneism, as u refer to it, is simply conservative Islam, and not some radical offshoot as you seem to be characterising it as. Shariah Law is mainstream Islam, and its establishment and spread must be resisted.
