Probably old news, but if not this is worth a look.

Apparently, I'm completely crap at it.

I got 7 out of 18.

Last night I saw a bunch of Japanese punks from the band Hat Trickers who played on Saturday. Looking at them I could just tell they were Japanese.

The people in this test look like they're all living in western countries. The test would be a lot fairer if it used Asians living in Asian countries.

I scored 9 out of 17. Some of these people seemed mixed or had no typical features.

Yeah, old news, but slightly entertaining. Not very relevant, however, givn that few of the people were typical of their race. The website operator obviously is trying to make a point, but using non-characteristic avatars for races is... pointless.

I hit a very high percentage when guessing in real life, because most people are closer to a norm - to the extent that there is one - than the furthest standard deviation.

That said, I often have a hard time determining whether very beautiful women are Korean, Japanese or Chinese, but I think that comes from norms of beauty, such as the symetric face, etc. Because beauty is perceived the same, in a broad sense, across cultures and races, it would make sense that what we find beautiful would be similar.

Another clue is style of dress-- Japanese, Chinese and Koreans have different norms when it comes to street clothes/fashion. I relied too much on make-up and hair for clues.

It seems that Koreans themselves can't tell the difference.
I used to work in the same English school with a Chinese-American who never studied Korean.
Whenever we went out in public, Koreans would come up to me and say, "캔 아이 헬프 유," but they wouldn't ask her.

Oh, well, when we meet other wegukin's, we have to ask,
"What country are you from?"
so what's the difference?

11 out of 18.

I think Japanese at least do have some differences.More angular faces,ie more prominent cheekbones a nd nosebridge...thicker hair than koreans.

Perhaps more subtle about plastic surgery too.
