I just re-signed with my school a while back and we went to immigration to apply for a visa extension 2 weeks before my visa expired. I was in and out in about 10 mins, and all they did (apart from the paperwork) was write new dates on the back of my ARC card.... what happens now? I have a vacation coming up and am leaving the country. Nothing was changed in my passport when I went to immigration though, am i supposed to have a new visa sticker or something? I applied for a re-entry while I was there as well.

Im not going to get a tourist stamp when I come back to Korea am I??

You just need to make sure you buy a re-entry stamp. I think it costs about 15.000 won or so.

No, nothing changes in your passport - as long as the info is now on the back of your ARC you are fine. When you leave, the exit officer will type your ID number into his computer and see that you have extended your dates.

You just need to make sure you get your re-entry stamp before you go (if you don't already have mulit-entry).

If you are leaving on vacation you will HAVE TO make sure that you purchased a NEW re-entry permit that corresponds with the new dates on the back of your ARC. The cost of the re-entry permit (assuming you are NOT British) is 30k won for single and 50k won for a multiple re-entry permit.

The new re-entry permit will be stamped into your passport somewhere. IF you don't have a new one stamped (it will have the valid dates on it) then you don't have one.

It (your re-entry permit) may be one of the new sticker types (white paper about 5cm.x5cm. with details printed onto it) or one of the old purple stamp types depending on what office you went to.

Last year, I filled out a for a multiple re-entry visa and I travelled over seas. My visa (and re-entry visa) has now expired. When I went to immigration to extend my visa, I filled out another re-entry form, paid the fee and left.... Ive just checked for a new stamp but there isnt one, jus the old one with the old dates....

So now what?? Go back to immigration??

If you didn't get a new purple stamp... did you get the new white sticker one?

Are you sure you paid for it? 30k won for your extension... and 50k won for the re-entry (80 k won total)?

Where are you from? Americans get a multiple entry with their visa, brits get it free, canuks pay 50K won for it, not sure about aussies and kiwis.

IF you are not sure... re-visit the immi office either at home or the airport before you leave... IF you leave without a re-entry permit your E2 will be cancelled and you will have to get a new one (complete with visa run) even if you just got an extension.

When I went to Immigration the first time I was with my supervisor and one of my teachers. I told them i needed a re-entry permit as well, and they said something to the immi officer who gave me a form to fill out and asked me to pay 30,000 won. Meanwhile the supervisor was giving papers etc for my new visa. I was under the impression I was sorting out the re-entry permit, but it seems the form I filled out and the money I paid was for my visa (even though it asked about leaving the country, when and for how long). I didnt think it was up to me to pay for the visa! Thats where I got confused.

Went back to immigration today and got a re-entry permit, stamp in my passport and all.
