I'm planning on flying from Seoul to Irkutsk, stay a few days, then take the Trans-Siberian through Mongolia and into Beijing, stay a few days, then take a ferry back to Korea.

Has anyone done anything similar, have advice, or any information on a flight from Seoul - Irkutsk? I can't find any information online, and I've checked Korean and Russian airlines! I would like to find price information and which days this flight may exist.
Also, anyone know the days that the train leaves from Irkutsk, and how much it is to Beijing?

Thanks so much if anyone knows!

I've been to Irkutsk and as far as I remember - there are no international flights to Irkutsk. Not on a regular basis *currently* anyway. Only domestic flights from places within Russia.

Khabarovsk (and to a lesser extent Vladivostok) would be easier arrival points.

The current weekly flights from Korea to Russia are as follows:

ASIANA:
Incheon to Khabarovsk (3/week)
Incheon to Sakhalinsk (2/week)

KOREAN AIR:
Incheon to Vladivostok (3/week)
Incheon to Moscow SVO (3/week)
Incheon to St Pete (2/week)

AEROFLOT:
Incheon to Moscow SVO (3/week)

VLADIVOSTOK AVIA:
Incheon to Vladivostok (4/week)
Busan to Vladivostok (1/week)

DALAVIA:
Incheon to Khabarovsk (3/week)

SAT AIRLINES:
Incheon to Sakhalinsk (2/week)
Busan to Sakhalinsk (1/week)

Contact the airlines directly for prices. Then apply for a visa (I know the people at www.marlis.ru in Moscow and they are quite reliable, as you will need an Irkutsk-specific invitation).

Train - Irkutsk to Beijing. Either Tuesday Train #20 via Harbin. Or Saturday Train #4 via Mongolia. Both early morning departures from Irkutsk. About 48 hours or so to Beijing.

The Siberian Airlines cheap branch has flights on Sundays from Seoul to Novosibirsk, (on the train line) or with a continuing flight to Irkutsk if you want. This service starts on June 18 apparently. They do one way tickets.

I did think of Siberia Airlines when I was typing that reply. But they haven't flown here for about 6 months. Good that they are re-starting up Seoul-Novosibirsk again.
