I heard he was next on Tommy Hilfiger's list of "has-been rockers to get their asses handed to them."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My memories of the 80s--violated!
Thanks for the link.

i love it.
almost revolutionary for an artist to take his most well-known songs and throw it into a different style.
cool. |

What's impressive is that they're so tastefully done. |

You're talking about him freaking out on Axl Rose? My guess is that Axl Rose didn't lift a finger because he knew he would have ended up in jail had he stomped the fashion designer. |

Sure, I wasn't there, I doubt Axl was scared of Tommy, etc. But I thought it made for a great little quip in this thread! I don't want to hijack this thread or anything, but do you wonder what goes through Tommy Hilfiger's head? Like maybe he's got a list he's working through?
"Okay, I can cross Axl off for saying I had the fashion sense of Roseanne Barr to 'People' magazine in 1989... Next on the list- Tommy Lee for giving me a wedgie at OJ's party in 1992..."
(and don't take the 'has-been' insult too seriously either; "You call me 'Has-been'? You, who 'never-was'?" -Bill Shatner) |

Yeah, I love that mandolin.
Lots of cool sounds added into such familiar tunes.. great.
plus hearing David Lee Roth's voice on such familiar old music in bluegrass.. great new sound to old classic stuff.
I'm going to play it again |

It's no surprise. David Lee Roth is always reinventing himself, not that most music fans take notice. I could see this record selling quite well.
Their version of 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love' almost sounds like something that Django Reinhardt would have made (who knows, this may have been Van Halen's orginal intention. How many people know that the Police's Roxanne is a tango?). |

Outstanding piece of work. Not the best bluegrass covers I've heard though.
If ye've a hankerin' fer bluegrass, good 'ol Boys name o' Hayseed Dixie blew through the village last year and they was the best hot-diggity-doo-darn thing I ever done heard. Did bluegrass covers of AC/DC, Outkast, Motorhead and a barnful more other rockin' bainds - and bin doin' it fer more n 15 years by God. Git yer downloads on n get yer pitchforks into 'Roses' and 'Ace of Spades'. Take a pinch while you wait fer DLs though, cuz it takes 'em a while to git it together. Werth it, but. Jist go here.
Hayseed Dixie ~ these boys can knock back the 'shine n all. PHEUUUU-WHEE!
