I was fired from my job and told I have 2 weeks to leave.

Unfortunaltly I got sick and spent about 8 days in bed and now my times almost up. I need some more time to consider my options and get some money togethor.

Can anyone tell me what they will do if I stay longer or should I go
and ask for more time?

I'd imagine, as long as your over-stay doesn't stretch too long, you may have to pay a small fine (on your way out of the country) and that'd be the end of it. As long as the over-stay was short, I'd bet they wouldn't prevent re-entry. And even if they did, it wouldn't be for long - just a few months.

Namaste.

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you happy to be getting out of there?

Don't listen to this advice. Immigration can make your life difficult if you overstay. In addition to fining you, they can flag you making you ineligible for a visa as long as they feel like it. I've known people that have had some serious headaches caused by overstays. Remember, you're a foreigner here, you have no rights, playing games with Immigration is just not worth it.

Since you still have some time, you're better off applying for a visa extension. If you have a plane ticket or other proof that you're leaving the country in hand, and you're not asking for permission to work Immigration is often good about letting you stay a little longer as long as you contact them in advance.

Worst comes to worst, if they say no, take a quickie trip to Japan or Taiwan, turn around, and come back on a landing visa before your visa expires. I hear Tsushima and Fukuoka are very nice this time of year.

Good luck.

Why'd you get fired? (Please excuse the blunt curiosity)
