Good thing it's not Vader as he appeared the following day. Poor guy.
Edit: expressions are completely different, though I'll be sure to take a picture the next time I'm in a life-and-death struggle with a former mentor of mine to see if it matches up even better.

She seems to be the Vanilla Ice/Mili Vanelli/Jennifer Lopez of her time and country!
What is otherwise known as a Xerox artist...she has many, many, many friends and fellow "artists" in the music business worldwide.

But as a far as Lee-hyo-Lee is concerned. My god she is so hot isn't she. She looks great in hotpants.
I'm in love and not just because she dresses onstage in such a sexy way. Pretty face, great figure....wow! |

I've tried to keep a list going of plagiarism in Korean music on another forum:

As you can see, there are a lot of bitter teeny-bopper fans on there. The Hyori thing really shut them up. |

If she wins...perhaps that will open the door for most rock bands of the 60's and 70's to sue current rap bands for song stealing....
Heard the lee song (my wife likes her) but not the spears....if lee did copy the song...well let Spears sue for all its worth and then end up being turned back by the age old argument of music copying: I didn't copy...I inspired my song from...or what is known as the Deep Purple music creation method. |
Here you reveal your deep ignorance of the music industry and hip hop in particular. Hip hop makes use of "sampling" which is taking a 2 or 4 bar loop from a song, usually in a part with no vocals, beefing the bass end up, repeating it, and rapping over it. The samples on all major label released hip hop albums have all been cleared with the original artists reprasentatives and a fee paid.
And there's a difference between inspiration and straight up copying. |

Mate, you keep on dropping the name of Deep Purple, which tells me you've never heard thier music and no nothing about them. Unless there was some scandel I never heard about with Deep Purple being accused of plagiarism? They are acknowledged, along with Led Zep and Black Sabbath, as the originators and godfathers of heavy rock/metal. Critically aclaimed as an extremely innovative and progressive band. Many people have copied them, but who did Deep Purple copy? |

Satori,
I saw Deep Purple in concert 2 times and own most of their albums.
I also played in a band back home and we played their songs on some of our gigs.
Anyone worth their salt knows that Deep Purple, in their heyday "inspired" their music from other songs they heard and other bands. My Woman from Tokyo is a good example....
It remains great music and they did push the keyboard to levels never heard before them....
I don't dislike D. Purple...in fact I love those guys....
My comment was just that while Ms. Lee may be a copycat...she is far, far from alone in doing this in the music world....she has (as I said) many friends in the Xerox..hmm excuse me.."Homage" room!
Now don't take this as a peronal attack on your musical knowledge Satori. Its just a comment regarding copying/inspiring in the music business....
Everyone needs an inspiration...some bands start a style that gets copied...look at Pearl Jam and what followed.
Led Zep influenced hundreds of bands, some of whihc basically used the LZ blueprint to music.... |

Maybe this has already been mentioned, but Led Zep, while certainly a terrific group, swiped the majority of their early stuff from American blues musicians.

| That doesn't explain why you drop in Deep Purple with Vanilla Ice as an example of rip off artists in the music industry. Were Deep Purple particularly known for being copy cats in thier music? I don't think so. They certainly don't have that rep. It's more the other way, as trial blazers. Unless you'd like to set me straight... |

Swiped is a bit of a tough word to use, when they took that influence and twisted into something so wildly different. I mean, you can say legitimately that almost all guitar rock bands owe something to the blues.
I don't know if any band out there can be said to owe nothing to what went before, but this is somewhat different from outright copying.
And Homer, no it's not a big deal, but of all the thousands of bands out there to use as an example of copying other music, Deep Purple does seem like a really really odd choice, that's all. |
