That was awesome.
I wonder how they predict *exactly* June 19th? |

i got that from people i know who live in university housing who freeze in early november, because the maintenance claim that "winter hasn't started yet" so the heat's not on... and then sweat in mid-may because "summer hasn't started yet" so their aircons aren't hooked up.
yeah. i think people are big on official dates here. |

Yes... that's how they do things here.. and yet I find the logic difficult to understand.
They do it mostly to save energy costs - but if you are freezing people to death, they are just going to buy electric heaters, plug them in and run up a huge electricity bill for the uni... same with the summer.. they will just buy fans or something and keep them running days on nights.
Odd. |

Got soaking wet shoes from the rain today.
Just wondering what people do to avoid that here, such as rubber boots,
or do you just get the soaked feet like me.
Kind of a dopey question, but haven't seen people where rubber boots,
so I'm curious. My shoes have that gross, mildewing, slightly putrid
smell to them now. lovely. |

Wow....so early June was hot and sultry huh? If that is so, then I have nothing to fear from this coming summer. And good to know that this constant rain we've been having has nothing to do at all with a "rainy" season. I suppose this is merely a "raining" season.
Korean weather. Waaaaaacky~!
Oh, and as for shoes, I wear rubber sandals when walking around outside while carrying my real shoes. I also DO have a pair of big rubber boots and I'm not ashamed to be the only person in a crowd wearing them. When caught out in a downpour in real shoes, I take them off and go barefoot. |

More heavy rain expected until weekend
The torrential rain that drenched the Korean Peninsula from Sunday gradually eased off yesterday afternoon but there will be more downpours as a seasonal rain front is likely to stay in Seoul and central regions until this weekend.

I must admit, I don't get the four distinct seasons in Korea thing. Maybe I have just forgotten how to count. |
