Hmmm if you think about it, Chenney is never going to run for the White House. If the Republicans get slaughtered during the mid-terms, the White House can groom a high profile front runner in the VP slot. |

I thought Cheney was Bush's insurance policy to keep from going the way of Lincoln and Kennedy, and a darned good one at that. My bet is that Cheney isn't going anywhere because there's no one as broadly and dangerously repugnant around to fill his shoes. |

Interesting hypothesis, however, clearly the oftimes "dufus" GW is no Jack Kennedy.
As with Lincoln, was JFK also not something of a progressive & "visionary" reformer?
Why else would they have murdered him?
"Temporary" Shrub has in his pivitol figure head role, primarily helped to further faithfully serve & embolden the interests of the ruling class "establishment". |

Cheney may be called in CIA leak case
By TONI LOCY, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Vice President *beep* Cheney could be called to testify in the perjury case against his former chief of staff, a special prosecutor said in a court filing Wednesday.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald suggested Cheney would be a logical government witness because he could authenticate notes he jotted on a July 6, 2003, New York Times opinion piece by a former U.S. ambassador critical of the Iraq war.
Fitzgerald said Cheney's "state of mind" is "directly relevant" to whether I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the vice president's former top aide, lied to FBI agents and a federal grand jury about how he learned about CIA officer Valerie Plame's identity and what he subsequently told reporters

Experts say Cheney can't avoid testifying

WASHINGTON - If a prosecutor calls him as a witness, Vice President Dick Cheney probably can't avoid testifying in his former chief of staff's perjury trial, legal experts said Thursday.
"There may be significant issues of executive privilege and significant issues of classified information. But there are obviously significant factual issues that bear on the charges the prosecutor has brought" in the CIA leak investigation, said former federal prosecutor E. Lawrence Barcella Jr |
