Anyone care to give their impression as a foreigner of participating in runs or tris, especially as a Caucasian woman?

I'm male but anyhow, there are lots of clubs around for endurance types. Seoulsynergy is a tri-club and it has a lot of foreigners. Also there are the runners clubs which train at namsan (W.Th 7:30pm)and the Olympic track (M,W, 8 pm)

I can't say anything about triathlons but as for running, the events are very well organized. Cheap. Many runners enter just to get the appareil and goodies, with no intention to run -- it is usually that good a deal.

As a foreigner, you will also get an innordinate amount of attention, lots of smiles, cheers, "Fighting!!" etc.......great experience.

NOw time for me to get out the door. I have a half marathon "sprint/race".

DD

PS> never heard of any such thing as clydesdale and athena!!!! Koreans dont' know the concept. Usually there are 10 year age groups, starting at 40. The rest is open and sometimes there is also a seperate Elite category, different from the Masters which they call the Open but amateur (ie . not registered with the Korean Federation, no racing card.).

Great, ddeubel, thanks for the info!

The clydesdale/Athena (or filly) division is for athletes who are over 175 lbs. (women) and 200 lbs. (men). I've been a member of the USA Clydesdale & Filly Racing Federation for several years, mostly just to find events that have our division, though:

I can imagine the looks I'll get as an Amazon lumbering down the course. I'll be forty in a year and a half. Decade birthdays are great for competitive athletes, I'm really looking forward to being one of the youngest in my division once again, woohoo!
