so i'm sitting waiting for a subway. the next booth over I hear a *snap* of a camera phone.. then another *snap* and another *snap* and another *snap* and yet it continued.

I counted them all and there were 29 snaps of the camera phone. A couple were sitting there taking pictures of each other sitting together.

Is it just me, or is that a bit excessive? Did one of them blink the first 28 times? Shouldn't this be accompanyed by laughter of some sort if they did?

I just imagine myself.. if I were part of that 'relationship'.. I'd have had a perma-scowl after picture 4.

Ah.. Korea.

Not an uncommon event anywhere in Korea. More like a cure for boredom than vanity. One never knows though. Smile

Funny.. I was actually going to comment on that in my post. As its really not vanity.. but its something..

Boredom.. or no negative stigma attached to it like in the West.

Kind of like when I first got here, and so shocked to see so many people checking themselves out publicly in mirrors and every reflection imagineable.

Its something that we in the West usually go to great lengths to avoid being caught doing in public.

Laughing Yeah me too, man.

I would rather have a gf like I saw in some Japanese photo/video-booth video where they'd film the girl naked and giving the guy oral pleasure. Yeah, kinky.

You've been here what, six or seven years now tiger? And you're just noticing this?

I actually think it's good. Photos are memories. And having good photos is more pleasant. I know I don't look good in photos, cause I've hardly ever been photo'd. Koreans learn to pose better for photos and thier photos do often look pretty good. So why not? The more photo's you take the more likely to get a good one. It's fun and harmless.

I had the exact same experience today with the gf.....shot after shot after shot from uncountable angles......infuriating at the time....but we ended up with some nice shots in the end.

They will go home and pick a few gems from all the pictures taken and upload them on their Cyworlds to show everyone. You try that, too. Smile I'm not too sure but it seems young Finns do this sort of stuff a lot, too.

I see it all the time. It's stupid. It's not as if you can take quality pics with your camera phone anyway. If they wanted a few good pictures of themselves they should go to a studio, or one of those booths and mug there. Not elsewhere in public.

Yeah, right up there with nose-picking, farting, and vomiting, but hey...

My wife is addicted to her camera and I was rather worried that I might have been half of that couple you referred to. She is a self-styled "Queen of selka" and can make it look as though there is always a third person taking the shot. I have tried scowling through them, looking stupid, looking bored, or any other facial expression - that just prolongs the agony. But, I love her and this is one of her foibles that I accept gladly if I want to make it out to darts night for a few pints on Mondays...

not to mention peeing... man that disgusts me.

what i find odd is when i see a k-girl take a picture of herself, so she can see how she looks. wouldn't a mirror be a LITTLE more practical? i mean, how much can you really see on a low rez screen?

I love how so many of the girls have this set, smirky little pose they use that they must think is cute, but I find really annoying.

My students always want me to pose for pics and it drives me nuts. I hate "set up" pics. The best ones I've every seen are when the target didn't know the pic was being taken
