Forget Quality, It's All About Catching the Eye
Samsung has focused its marketing strategy on maximizing the design impact rather than technology or performance, and so far that has been a success....
According to Dr. Lee An-jae of the Samsung Economic Research Institute, they also buy products less for performance, durability, quality or price and more from a sense of their "individual emotional value.".... Big corporations are doing all they can to keep up. From tire maker Kumho Asiana to Samsung and LG, the group presidents are stressing "design management."

Yet at the same time the Hyundai Grandeur leads the global car market with its luxurious design. Some whisper that the recently released Lexus ES350 by Japans Toyota looks oddly similar to the Grandeur from the front.
Huh. I don't ever recall seeing a Grandeur back home in the states. I haven't lived there awhile, but this doesn't sound right to me. Time to do a google search... |

Hmmm. I had a Samsung cellphone until just recently. They're supposed to have a reputation as one of the best brands in the world, but I thought mine was a piece of junk.
I have an I.T. background and I found the interface to be unbelievably annoying and frustrating. Wanna put a question mark in your text message? 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 separate key presses. Wanna select a recipient for your message? *Bong*, a little pop up window appears with, "1 names selected". No sh!!t, didn't I just select it?! And another unnecessary key press to exit the pop up and get back to the message. Ridiculous.
Anyway, I ended up getting a hammer and smashing the damn thing into a million pieces. It was a very satisfying experience. I have a Sky phone now. Only 2 key presses to get a question mark, and the thing doesn't treat me like an idiot.
Well done, Samsung; you'll never get the chance to fool me again. |

Periwinkle, I am still in the States and I have never seen an add for a Hyundai Granduer, so unless it is being marketed under a different name.....

Are they exporting their SM5 and SM6 (there's an Sm7, too, right?) cars to the U.S. and Canada? How about Europe? I don't recall seeing Samsung cars in the states when I was there this past January, and I was actively looking for them. If they aren't exporting to North America, I wonder why.... Anyway, I prefer them to Hyundai and Kia. |

Samsung cars are essentially Nissan. They use the Reneault name to help them market their cars, but in reality there are all Nissan parts. I was even told by a friend who is a car dealer here, that if you pop the hood on some of them, the engine says Nissan right on it, but those might be the older ones. So, why don't you see Samsung cars in NA? You do, but they are called Nissan. |
