Japan passes bill to fingerprint foreigners
Wed May 17, 09:15 AM EST
TOKYO (Reuters) - Foreigners arriving in Japan will be photographed and fingerprinted on arrival as part of measures to prevent terrorism, under a measure approved by Japan's parliament Wednesday.
Civic groups and lawyers have said the legislation, approved by parliament's upper house, risks breaching human rights and invading individuals' privacy.
The new legislation, which had previously passed the lower house and now becomes law, exempts children under 16, diplomats and "special permanent residents" including ethnic Koreans. |
DAMN.... sounds like the good ol U. S. of A...
Looks like two cheeks of the same azz to me. |

Those who have done visa runs to Fukuoka from Seoul in the past know it takes a good 7 hours via KTX and Busan ferry.
My advice is the next time you feel like u need a change of job, let your employer take care of the charges as the visa process usually take 2 days anyway. |

Several travel agencies have weekend airtel (airfare and hotel) deals to Tokyo or Osaka. The price ranges from 299,000 to 499,000 won depending on season and day of the week.
Basically, you leave Friday night around 7 p.m. and return to Korea Sunday night or early Monday morning. Not a bad deal, eh?
If you're interested, ask a Korean friend to help you look into it. |

I've done this several times with Skymark, flying out of Incheon and into Haneda. The times I've done it, you leave between 2 and 3 a.m. Saturday, arrive in Tokyo around 5:30 a.m. and return to Seoul around midnight Sunday. It's a good deal. |
