I'm sorry robyn1882. I was not trying to attack you, really. I was trying to salvage some humor in this situation, but maybe I should have just made it a private chuckle. I think you are right when you say that some people have too much time on their hands. And it is also very amusing to some people to have little tiffs on the internet. You can see them in many places online, but you'll meet them offline as well. Why are people the way they are? Who really knows? I gave up trying to figure that kind of thing out long ago. |

OP, take it from me, Satori is in a category all unto himself. Good thing he's in Japan and not Korea. He's a wannabe ESL teacher back in Korea where he use to work but he can't find a job here. So he's stuck in Japan jealous of us here because he can't find work in Korea. His way of dealing with his misery is to pscho analyze every poster on here and give his expert amature diagnonis on your psyco disorder. Remember he's the only one on here who's sane. |

For a large community, this place seems not bad really. Anyone would feel so, especially after having read tons of trashy posts on sites like English Spectrum by those serious wastes of atoms and molecules that might still want to be called human beings or something.. usually I can learn one or two from each thread in this place.. and now that there's a very friendly smaller community calledGalbijim... |

Rude people in Korea??? No WAY!!!
Take a good long look at the International forum on here and you'll notice the rhetoric is much different. I seriously think the same people who are posting on E. Spectrum are also posting on this board, walking a fine line. |

People need to learn to post only what they would be willing to say to someone's face. The internet can be rude and crude because in everyday life people can't say a lot of the crap they post without getting their ass kicked, ostracized from normal people, or fired from their job.
There needs to be a golden rule of internet posting, only post a response that I would like as a response to one of my threads.
I don't count on this happening anytime soon, but one can hope. |

You are better off not turning to your "peers" in Korea for help as most of them cannot be bothered helping "newbies" out with anything. I made that wishful mistake when I got here and it was the bigges mistake I ever made. The best advice I can give you (as a newbie) is to never ever ask people here (especially on this forum) for advice. This will make your life LESS stressful. It's best to just find out for yourself. If you really need advice, find a few friends you can confide in and trust them. Most of these people on here couldn't care less. |
Ack. I think I used the term newbie at least twice in my previous post. (this thread) Am I hitlisted? |

The Internet is a cluster *beep* too fubar'd to save.
I do it because it's fun in the same way it's fun to poke fishbowls to see the wave of pissiness and how it spreads between lower life forms. If I can't teach them how to breathe oxygen in their lifetime I might as well learn to swim. |

I have posted about 8 posts on the forums here, and I have noticed that people respond so negativly to peoples questions and concerns. Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind this. I am moving to Korea at the end of June and was super stoked when I found this forum because I thought it was awesome to have people who went through the same questions and concerns as me answering the questions I had on this HUGE life changing decision. Yet often times you have people who respond with the most negative, ridiculous comments, and often times I have noticed it is the same people over and over. Why not say something useful that will actually help someone else out instead of trying to frustrate them even more!!! |
This place isn't that bad.
I joined a Christian web site a few years ago to learn more about Christianity and biblical history, and after my very first post someone called me an idiot. The Christians over there (mostly the married with children, more "life-exprerienced" folks) are some of the most rabid, degrading jackasses I've ever communicated with. This place is much more tame. |

If I wasn't in Korea, I would agree with you on that. I've had enough real life rude encounters here in Korea to almost finish a book or certainly write a screen play for a good movie. The rudeness is so bad it's getting comical. Rhodney Dangerfield "no respect" LOOK OUT! I know for certian that I'm in the same boat as my fellow ESL colleagues and friends. I hear their stories too. I think people on this board are full of misplaced anger and resentment they feel in this society of intolerance and acceptable rudeness which is part of the social norm. OP that's reality! |
