Its very simple for me, I came here with a goal. Each month I set a budget and stick to it, every goal must be attainable so don't sell yourself short. It all depends on your lifestyle and priorities.
I avoid purchasing things at convienence stores cause the price is usually 25% higher than in a supermarket.
Cook at home most of the time, eating out for me is a treat usually once a week, this will save you lots of money.
I decided to live in rural Korea because saving cash was a high priority, living in an urban setting immediatly increases your spending habits a great deal.
Get involved in hobbies that don't cost a lot of money such as reading, writing, bicycling, basketball and my favorite here in Korea hiking.
I am truely amazed and shocked when I read on this forum that people have little or next to nothing saved after a year teaching esl here in Korea.
Even if your at 2 million won (which I am not) you should be able to save at minimum half your salary. I am 4 months into my contract and I have already saved 10000 Canadian, again its all about priorities. |
