Is there anyone out there who works at a university that can tell me if, at their university, official permission is given to work at other universities' holidays camps?

I've heard from a (*cough*) friend of a friend
who (*cough, cough*) used to work at a university in Gyeongsan City, just south-east of Daegu, with the (English) initials Y.U.,
that, despite having an extremely low level of pay for a very high number of work hours per week,
management there didn't used to let English language teachers from there teach elsewhere during their eight weeks of precious holiday time.

I was saddened and dismayed by this dismal state of affairs for that honest and willing worker-friend. Now, I'm wondering if such is the norm for other good university workers around the place. Do other universities also have such draconian 'regulations' concerning virtual ownership of workers, or, are they more chill, man?

And, to what possible benefit is this policy, anyway?

Most universities I'm aware of follow that policy. Fortunately where I am working, same place as the_beaver, allows and encourages teachers to work elsewhere during vacation.

If you're out of the country *cough* during vacation, how will they know what you're really up to *cough*?

Talking to me, fool? Uh, there is only one answer to that question. None.

Next question...[/quote]

As long as the hours of the "other" job don't interfere with our hours, permission is granted.
