I am looking for a boarder who wants to stay with a typical Korean family and experience all things Korean. I will provide a private room and a kitchen without charge, but not meals. You will have to cook by yourself, but you will have use of a refrigerator, and there is a grocery store right around the corner.
My house is near Seoul Foreign School in Yonhi-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. It is a 15-minute ride from Yonsei University or Ewha Women's University. This area is very quiet, peaceful, and secure: two former presidents live here, so the police are always on guard. I am sure you will feel very comfortable at my home. My family consists of me (about 50), my wife (an adult student) and my daughter (the editor of a publishing company, aged 26). You'll also have some friendly companions: two lovely puppies. Both me and my daughter are fluent speakers of English, so you'll have no communication problems.
My main purpose of boarding you is to improve my family members' English by talking with you. I was a high school English teacher, and now I am a professional writer of English books for secondary schools. Sometimes I need a native speaker's help at my home, although I do have a foreigner working in my office. Therefore, I hope you are someone who reads with a literary talent - and it's even better if you have writing experience. If your help is near a professional level, I may even be able to offer some pay.
You can stay for two or three months, or longer if we are compatible. I prefer native speakers of English regardless of nationality or skin color. A middle-aged female would be ideal, but males are okay, too, if you are quiet and friendly.
If you are interested, please contact Mr. Lee:

You have a very interesting post. At the bottom of the post I see your quote. I have a special education daughter (that I adopted) and she is not a loser by any means. In fact, even though she would be considered "retarded" by more gifted people, I find her very smart at times.
Please reconsider your quote.
thank you, mom |

Even though I already get my accomodation paid for and personally have no need, I appreciate people like you. This is a great opportunity for someone to really experience Korean culture!
The thing is, I think most English teachers do get their accomodation paid for, and even if they don't, they would need more than a promise of a few months; probably around a year or so. Just my 2 cents. |

i really really hope you get a boarder because you need serious help with your english. (i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you just don't understand fully your quote.) good luck.
see -- pc is a good thing, because personally, i'd rather not have to see how ignorant people are. |

I checked out the site as I was curious as to what exactly it was. Turns out it's written by a special education teacher and her teaching experiences. The way she writes I couldn't help but laugh, I was literally in tears. From the first few posts my impression is this is someone who really shouldn't be teaching special education but hey I could be wrong. |

Who said anything about loser in that quote. Christ my mom died 2 years ago and do you think I burst into tears when people make Mom jokes around me.
Retarded people as well hate that PC stuff, they want to be treated like anyone else, which even means a joke or two at their expense.

I'm looking for such a homestay in or just south of Seoul (Suwon, Ansan, etc.)
Where can I find one for THIS summer 2007? I've lived and taught English in Korea for 8 years so know a lot about it. |

Seoulstomper, we have some really rude and heartless people on this board. Please don't think we're all that way.
I wish you good luck, and want to mention that you should also try your ad on www.koreaherald.com
Best wishes. |
