Hi kids,
I have been trying - to no end - to purchase tickets to the Studio Ghibli museum near Tokyo.
My husband and I are planning a trip there in July (short notice for tickets, I know) and would like to see if we can somehow fit that in to our trip.
Tickets are difficult to get - we must buy them in advance, apparently from our country of origin. The contact for the Canadian office can't issue the tickets (I'm unclear as to why - I'm guessing because we don't currently live there) and the contact for the Seoul office can't issue the tickets because we're not Korean.
Has anyone been able to buy tickets for the museum while in Seoul?
Thanks so much! |

I visited Studio Ghibli last year. It was a lovely place. Adults and children alike enjoy it, and the surrounding neighbourhood makes for a nice walk around.
I know that they have a certain number of tickets available every day, but don't know how to buy tickets outside of Japan, as my Japanese friend got them for us before I got there.
In Japan, you can go into any LAWSON convenience store (they are everywhere) and buy tickets.

I can't remember when summer break starts in Japan, but July weekdays could be hit and miss for getting tickets if you are not able to secure them in advance from Korea. |

P.S. Have you tried contacting a JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) located in Seoul? They usually deal with things like Japan Rail Passes, so they might be able to help you out. |

Thanks so much!
Update:
To those of you interested, we've ordered them from the JTB in Vancouver and it's costing about $50 to purchase and ship them. Toronto wasn't helpful, so if you want them, try their western office.
We couldn't order them here, in Korea, because we're not Korean. I have an Alien Card which might have worked, but my husband doesn't. I'm not entirely sure why it's so difficult to purchase them (we had to send our passport info!) but it's surely worth it. |
