Kim Min-jung, whose brother is part of a large Korean student population in Cologne, was awe-struck by the citys magnificent cathedral outside the station but wondered where the party was.
No one joins in when we sing Dae-Han-Min-Kuk, said Kim, who could not resist clapping the remainder of the Korean fans signature chant.
People kept telling us to keep it down on the train. It was strange they didnt want to enjoy themselves.

I just love that part of the story. Laughing

Not surprising at all. When I attended a "Hi Seoul" event a couple years ago, the guys on stage were singing a song with the refrain: "God bless Korea" (3x) follwed by either "Best in the all the world," or "Best among the world." I couldn't quite tell despite 100 repetitions. Then the guy leading the song said, "OK, now just the foreigners."

That story also reminds me of those obnoxious commercial (KTF or Sky?) where a bunch of Koreans in Europe basically annoy the people around them by either chanting or bumping into them repeatedly.
