It's out, and it's great! Or at least the first hour is great, I haven't had a chance to play any more than that so far. But it looks great, same wonderful engine, very inventive level (so far), story continues where HL2 ended... on the whole it appears to be a very satisfying product for Half-Life fans.

Man, am I desperate to play that. I've got Steam, got a computer that plays Half-Life 2 perfectly fine, got a perfectly valid credit card ... and yet for some reason Valve won't authorize it. I called Mastercard about it and they said there had been no declined purchases, no attempts at all to authorize anything. And I've emailed Valve a few times and gotten dick-all in response. I'm actually resorting to getting my mother to pick it up in a store in Canada and mail the damn thing to me, when I've already got it pre-loaded on my freaking computer. Same thing with Sin over Steam (only I'm not getting Mum to send that one).

I briefly had a similar problem with the Sin Episode one purchase, I had to re-authorize a couple of times before it took. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or it wasn't happy with the format of the postal code (the only thing I changed when I re-entered the info). Try the postal code without the space or without the dash (I forget what worked for me).

Good lord. If all it was was a postal code format thing, I'm gonna stab myself with this fork.

Yeah, I tried again. Another failure. Actually, this time it told me my credit card was suspected of being a fraud. Guess I've tried too many times, and guess I should call Mastercard again.

Question: When you entered your address and all that, did you enter your Korean address or your back-home address, and which one is your card registered to? Because Steam says the address you enter has to be the one your card is registered to, and the country part of that address has to be the one you're currently in. And they aren't the same for me. I tried a few different arrangements in my efforts to get HL2:E1 and Sin. I'm not sure that's where the problem lays, what with them never actually contacting Mastercard to verify my info, but you never know...

I live in Canda so the problem you describe doesn't apply to me. I recall DEMOPHOBE saying he has successfully used Steam to download, and I believe he is still in Korea. You might want to PM him.

Yes, I used Steam, but I didn't need a credit card as I had a free HL2 ticket when I bought my ATI card. Yeah....remember that?

It seems you aren't alone in this anyways. A quick Google tells the same story from many others.

Others are using Direct to Drive or other content delivery systems. Maybe too many young punks are using mom's card to buy games? Wink

If you try to enter your home address, it may well create the same result, as where you are downloading from (in Korea) isn't where you say you 'live'. Give it a try. The Valve site says to submit a "ticket" to complain....don't know how far that will get you.

Sorry I couldn't help. Try other content delivery methods like D2D...many people say that it worked well for them, not being in the US or Canada.

Amazing game, HL2 fans will not be disappointed, but the wait for episode 2 is going to be excruciating.
