Hi folks,

Just wondered if anyone felt like giving some location recommendations. I'm going to be moving to the greater Seoul area but I have quite a bit of flexibility as to where I choose to live. I've heard that places like Ilsan (sp?) and Su Won (sp?) are good.

As for myself, I'm looking for an area that's at least somewhat hip, without being right in the heart of partytown. Although, that being said, I'm open to pretty much any area. The only thing I need is an adequate gym. The other thing that I'd like is access to a place where I could take part-time Korean language classes.

But, really, I'm just interested in hearing why you like the places that you like.

Cheers,

Zoom

Sounds like you want to be in or near Kangnam. Gyms and Korean classes a plenty. There's many other places that would suit you but Kangnam is the most foreigner-friendly.

I am moving there this week, first timer from Australia. Is there a good gym there where I can whip my sorry ass into shape?

Cheers

You want Gangnam, Apkujeong, Myeongdong Jamshil or Shinchon. All in Seoul.

Plenty of gyms, party places, foreigner friendly things etc..

Ilsan is a suburb (nice but not terribly convenient) and Suwon is a toilet.

Here's a link to a website with a list of places around Seoul to study Korean.

Well, you know, given that there are more people in Seoul and suburbs than there are in all of Australia, you can probably be sure there's a gym or two. Laughing
