Just the term on its own puts a smile on my face, but I'm just interested as to what kind of experiences people have had of this phenomenon? I'm still pretty new to Korea, and last weekend I had my first 'fusion food' experience at Omurice in Gangpyeon. I was a bit disappointed, as it was basically a omelette with rice inside it (the restaurants name kind of gave it away). Is this the best I can expect from 'fusion food'  |

From Korean fusion food? Yes. Korean fusion seems to be essentially taking a foriegn dish, removing the most obvious foreign elements and inserting elements that Koreans find more palletable, i.e. smothering it with mayonaise or 1000 island dressing.
I haven't found any true fusion restaurants here in Seoul...which means they probably don't exist anywhere else in Korea. |

I'm talking true fusion restaurants. The ones that build upon the culturally unique elements of a dish instead of omitting them. |

There's actually an exquisite little restaurant of this nature in Daejeon. It's actually an art gallery/restaurant, and the food is wonderful.
However, I don't know the name of it, or the location. I think it's called BeBe or something like that, and it's in the area of Daejeon near the science expo thing where all the rich people with architecturally interesting homes live. Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about. |

My favourite fusion is Japanese-American. There are three that I know of in 명동 and one great one called Raw in 신사동 just off of Rodeo drive.
Or were you speaking of Korean fusion specifically? |

worst example of fusion food I've had is tuna with melted chocolate(!?) in a lettuce leaf at one of those all you can eat tuna places.
Anybody had agreeable/disagreeable experiences?What was the food? |

A more excellent summary I could not do. To wit, taking pasta, using ketchup and gochujang for the sauce, and then loading it up with steamed clams. If it can be made in a microwave, so much the better. |
