and perhaps fifty times that number of Iraqi's (not all, or ven most, by Americans, but what was the gen3esis of the war???) and an unknown number (to me) of "coalition" forces.

Is the U.S. number not now over the number of those killed on 9/11???

How is this not cutting off one's nose to spite one's face? (And don't try to claim more Americans would have died if we hadn't gone into Iraq... that's just poppycock... and I'd thenhave to point out the tens of thousands of others who would not have died....)

When Bush invaded Iraq and declared the mission a success I said thousands of Americans will die before they leave.

OMFG.

It might end up tens of thousands.

And I cannot fathom how many Iraqis, women, children and old people have been killed.

i don't really think that its an accounting issue.

"ok, there are 6,574 people dead because of 9/11. therefore, we will invade a random middle east country and kill exactly 6,574+(casualties in this war) citizens of said random country and call it a day"

Its more of a political matter. Like, they set a goal of "lets change Iraq's government" and then try to accomplish the goal. maybe. I could be wrong.

Are you really trying to say that we should kill people for no other reason than spiteful vengeance? That idea is even worse than what's going on now!

I agree wholeheartedly, it should never be about numbers.......nor vengeance.

It should be about saving lives/compassion. And you don't do that with Apaches and machine guns. You don't do that through invasion. You don't do that if you want to save lives.

so unfortunately though people at the white house aren't keeping count, they are certainly looking at the vengeance meter..............Terrible. the whole notion of "let's kick ass" that runs rampant in the military. School kids, high school at that...........and its behind almost ever breath of the president. A shame, a man elected to higher office who believes in cowboy vengeance and "let's get 'em" and payback....

End of my rant. Let's stop counting and get the hell out!!!
